Grove City Hands Sharon First Loss; Green Scores 35 to Lead DCC Past Kane

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City outscored Sharon 20-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 65-51 win over Sharon, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season in the process.

Brett Loughry scored a game-high 23 points for Grove City (7-7 overall, 2-0 Region 5), which included 9-of-10 from the charity stripe to help put the game away.

Gavin Lutz netted 16 points for Grove City, which went 14-of-17 from the line as a team.

Paul Gubba added nine points and Nathan Greer eight for the Eagles.

                                      

Sharon was the last remaining unbeaten team in District 10 going into the game.

Angelo Fromm led the Tigers (12-1, 1-1) with 13 points, while Mister Ham, Lamont Austin and Owen Schenker had eight points each.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 62, KANE 48

KANE, Pa. – Andrew Green exploded for a career-high 35 points to lead visiting DuBois Central Catholic to a 62-48 AML road win over Kane.

Green, who finished a double-double with 12 rebounds, scored 17 of his points from the free-throw line going 17 of 21 from the charity stripe, as DCC (7-6 overall, 2-3 AML South) went 27 of 37 as a team from the free-throw line.

Preston Darr scored 16 points for Kane (6-8, 1-5 AML North) with Dane Anderson chipping in 13 points.

CLARION 59, KEYSTONE 47

KNOX, Pa. – Devon Lauer and Derek Smail combined for 28 points to lead Clarion to a 59-47 road KSAC win over Keystone in the annual Hoops for Hope game between the teams.

Lauer led the Bobcats (12-3 overall, 7-0 KSAC) with 16 points with Smail adding 12.

Gabe Simko chipped in eight points for Clarion.

Aidan Patrick had a double-double for Keystone (3-12, 1-7) with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Eli Nellis added 13 points. Dom Corcetti added eight tallies.

BROOKVILLE 56, BRADFORD 36

BRADFORD, Pa. – Up nine going to the fourth quarter, Brookville pulled away from homestanding Bradford for a 56-36 D9 League win.

The Raiders (7-6 overall, 4-1 D9 League) rebounded from a loss at Johnsonburg Friday night by taking a 27-21 halftime lead that expanded to 40-31 going to the fourth quarter.

                                   

Then in the final eight minutes, Brookville outscored Bradford (7-8, 1-3) 16-5.

Kellan Haines led Brookville with 17 points with Jack Pete adding 14 points, Caleb Korbau eight points, and Pierson Ruhlman seven tallies.

Jake Franz paced Bradford with 13 points with Talon Reese chipping in 10 points.

TITUSVILLE 61, MAPLEWOOD 40

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Isiah Colon had a monster game, pouring in 38 points to lead Titusville to a 61-40 non-region win over Maplewood.

Colon scored 25 of his points in the first half for the Rockets (6-8), who built a 35-21 halftime lead on their way to the win. Colon also knocked down five 3’s.

David Leonard was also in double figures for Titusville with 11 points.

Kyle Jordan had 14 points and Chase Koelle 11 for Maplewood (0-15).

RIDGWAY 52, BROCKWAY 32

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Alex Merritt had 14 points to lead visiting Ridgway to a 52-32 win at Brockway in AML action.

Ethan Streich chipped in 11 points for the Elkers (5-7 overall, 1-2 AML South) with Hunter Beeler and Jackson Kilpeck each scoring eight points and Evan Gustafson chipping in seven tallies.

Reese Yahner scored 13 points for Brockway (1-11, 0-4) with Brady Hughes adding 10 points.
