Franklin, Grove City Clinch Region Titles; Corry Rallies for OT Victory over Titusville

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Franklin scored at least 24 points in each of the first three quarters on its way to an 87-13 win over Conneaut, wrapping up the Region 6 title in the process.

A total of 11 different Franklin players made their way into the scoring, including four in double figures, led by Damon Curry’s 19 points.

Also for the Knights, Aidan McCracken finished with 14 points, Cole Buckley and Jalen Wood 10 each, Jonathan Leccia nine, and Dreyden Payne eight.

Franklin also hit 11 3s in the win.

Tristan Shelatz had five points for CASH.

                                      

GROVE CITY 63, WILMINGTON 21

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Nathan Greer scored a game-high 18 points as Grove City clinched the Region 5 title outright with a 63-21 win over Wilmington.

Brett Loughry was also in double figures for Grove City with 15 points, while Gavin Lutz and Kam Martin had six apiece.

Anthony Reed had 13 points for Wilmington.

CORRY 71, TITUSVILLE 64, overtime

                          

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Markus Lambert poured in 33 points as Corry outlasted Titusville in overtime, 71-64.

Corry rallied from a 33-20 halftime deficit and a 51-42 margin after three quarters to force overtime.

Lambert knocked down 1-of-2 from the line to give Corry a 61-59 lead with 16 seconds left in regulation.

Kasen Neely’s putback off a Manny Perez miss with just over a second to go sent the game to overtime.

Perez has a big game in the setback for Titusville, scoring 34 points.

CATHEDRAL PREP 68, HARBOR CREEK 44

HARBOR CREEK, Pa. – Jake Sambuchino poured in 19 points as Cathedral Prep clinched a share of the Region 7 title with a 68-44 win over Harbor Creek.

Prep can secure the title outright with a win over McDowell on Friday.

Amaree Pickens added 11 points for the Ramblers and Mohamed Rahama and Semontae Lofton had nine apiece.

Nick Krahe had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies, while Braylen Wilson had 11 points and Brady Rzodkiewicz 10.

                                   

GIRARD 62, SENECA 48

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Alex Henry pumped in 20 points as Girard clinched a share of the Region 4 title with a 62-48 win over Seneca.

Nate Edwards added 15 points for the Yellow Jackets and Geremia Dell’omo 10.

Logan Kibbe had 16 points for Seneca.

WARREN 60, OIL CITY 46

OIL CITY, Pa. – Warren jumped out to a 22-11 lead over Oil City and never looked back in a 60-46 Region 6 win.

The win was the fourth-straight for the Dragons (14-7) and avenged a loss to the Oilers earlier in the season on a Cam VanWormer 3 at the buzzer.

Tommy Nyquist had eight of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to help close the game out for the Dragons.

Nyquist was one of four Dragons in double figures, as Owen Becker and Braylon Barnes had 13 points each and Parks Ordiway 10 (eight in the first half).

Sayyid Donald had 17 points for il City, while Ethen Knox, who missed the first meeting between the teams, finished 14 and Jake Hornbeck nine.

JAMESTOWN 59, ROCKY GROVE 50

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – With the game tied at 38 going into the fourth quarter, Jamestown outscored Rocky Grove 21-12 over the final eight minutes to secure a 59-50 win.

Cam Keyser was the catalyst for the Muskies, who have won three straight, scoring 12 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter.

Josh Hill added eight points for the Muskies, while Cole Ternent and Lucas Popielarcheck had seven each.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 47, SAEGERTOWN 44

                                  

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Region 3 champion Cambridge Springs outscored Saegertown 15-8 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 47-44 victory.

Ethan Counasse scored all five of his points in the fourth quarter for the Blue Devils, while Josh Reisnauer scored five of his game-high 16 over the final eight minutes.

Owen Riley had 14 points for Cambridge Springs, while Parker Schmidt added eight.

Henry Shaffer scored nine of his team-high 12 points in the second half for Saegertown, while Sully Zirkle added 10 and Collin Jones eight.

MERCER 82, WEST MIDDLESEX 51

MERCER, Pa. – Mercer went on a 22-7 run in the second quarter to pull away for an 82-57 win over West Middlesex.

Jake Mattocks pumped in 21 points in the victory for the Mustangs, who have won 10 straight, while Bubba Palmer had 13.

Gio Rococi had 16 points for West Middlesex, while John Patridge added 15.

EISENHOWER 62, UNION CITY 52

UNION CITY, Pa. – Eisenhower continued its strong push to the postseason with a 62-52 win over Union City.

The Knights (12-9) put five players in double figures, led by Wyatt Lookenhouse’s 15 points, and outscored the Bears in every quarter.

Johnny Palmieri had 12 points for Eisenhower, while Kyler Black, Kael Hunt, and Kris Bunk tallied 11 points each. Black scored eight of his points in the fourth quarter to help Eisenhower close the game out.

Josh James led Union City with 15 points, while Bryce Drayer had 13.

LAKEVIEW 37, SHARPSVILLE 25

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Lakeview outscored Sharpsville 20-2 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 37-25 win.

Lucas Fagley and Owen Dye led the way for the Sailors, scoring 10 points each.

Luke Staunch paced Sharpsville with 10 points.

MCDOWELL 62, MEADVILLE 47

MEADVILLE, Pa. – McDowell outscored Meadville 23-8 in the fourth quarter on its way to a 62-47 Region 7 win.

Tyler Grove was the catalyst for the Trojans, pouring in a game-high 28 points, while Kamden Kramer added 12 and Brody Paris seven.

Khalon Simmons had 14 points for Meadville.

ERIE 89, FORT LEBOEUF 40

WATERFORD, Pa. – Andreas McCullum poured in 30 points as Erie topped Fort LeBoeuf, 89-40.

Carson Papay led Fort LeBoeuf with 16 points.

NORTH EAST 54, MERCYHURST PREP 49

ERIE, Pa. – Demetrius Crosby poured in 19 points as North East picked up a 54-49 win over Mercyhurst Prep.

David Bahm had 12 points for Mercyhurst Prep.

COCHRANTON 61, YOUNGSVILLE 40

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cochranton outscored Youngsville 17-4 in the second quarter en route to a 61-40 win

Landon Homa led a balanced effort for Cochranton with 15 points, while Walker Carroll added 13 and Dawson Carroll 12.

The Cardinals also outscored the Eagles 19-8 in the fourth quarter.

Keegan Mesel had 13 points and Ethan Senz had seven for Youngsville.

REYNOLDS 60, GEORGE JUNIOR REPUBLIC 48

TRANSFER, Pa. – Jake Williams led four Reynolds players in double figures with 18 points in a 60-48 win over George Junior Republic.

Andrew McCloskey had 15 points for the Raiders, while John McCurdy had 13 and Haydin McLaughlin 12.

Daniel Franklin had 19 points and Bahir Green had 18 for GJR.
