Forest Area Sweeps Youngsville Softball; Karns City Holds off Cranberry; Kane Breaks Out the Bats Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

TIONESTA, Pa. – Outscoring visiting Youngsville in two games by a combined 33-0, Forest Area started its season off with a pair of victories.

The Fires took the opener 17-0 in four innings and the nightcap 16-0 in five innings.

In Game One, Izzy Flick went four shutout innings allowing five hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out seven.

She also contributed a pair of doubles on offense going 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot.

   

                  

Faith Deitrich hit a home run for the Fires and was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Brooke Felleti went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Alexa Carrll was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Anna Stitt also drove in three runs while going 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored, Akeela Greenawalt was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI, Alexis Oswald was 2-for-3 with a ripple, a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored, and Tara Brown went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Mackenzie Mellon got the win going four innings allowing five hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out three.

Dietrich and Oswald each homered for Forest Area while Dietrich added a pair of doubles and Oswald one double.

Dietrich was 4-for-4 with a walk, four runs scored, and five RBIs, while Oswald was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

                          

Greenawalt and Felleti each added a pair of doubles for the Firest with Greenawalt going 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored and Feelleti going 4-for-4 with a walk and four runs scored.

Carrll was also 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Jayden Colvin was 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

KARNS CITY 9, CRANBERRY 7

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Karns City scored eight runs in the first inning and then held off a strong charge by visiting Cranberry to pick up a 9-7 victory.

               

Lyrick Reed was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for the Lady Gremlins while Addison Burrows went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs. Emily Sherman also drove in three runs in the win and was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Burrows got the win going seven innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on 10 hits and three walks while striking out four.

Denali Wenner was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for Cranberry while Jadyn Shumaker went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Keelie Schneider was also 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Reyna Watson took the loss allowing eight earned runs on four hits, four walks, and a hit batter while not recording an out.

KANE 17, JOHNSONBURG 4, 5 INNINGS

KANE, Pa. – Cadence Carlson-Maybury drove in four runs to help Kane to a 17-4, five-inning victory over visiting Johnsonburg.

Carlson-Maybury was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and three runs scored.

Leah Tigani was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and four runs scored for the Lady Wolves and was also the winning pitcher going five innings allowing four runs, two earned, on two hits, three walks, and two hit batters. She struck out three.

Additionally, for Kane on offense, Maya Smith drove in two runs and scored three times, Elizabeth Yasurek was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Kylie Iak and Oliva Beel each scored a pair of runs.

Natalie Dunworth was 1-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored for Johnsonburg while Shelby Sorg went 1-for-2 with a double.

            

Dunworth took the loss going four innings giving up 17 runs, eight earned, on 14 hits and a walk while striking out three.

TYRONE 16, CLEARFIELD 13

HYDE, Pa. – Amaria Sprankle hit a home run and drove in five to lead visiting Tyrone past Clearfield, 16-13, in a slugfest.

Sprankle was 3-for-3 with two walks and a run scored.

KK Brodzina added a 4-for-6 day with two runs scored and three RBIs for the Eagles, while Allison Beeman was 3-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs, and Tiffany Tuskovitch went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Sam Shaw got the win going 4 ⅔ innings allowing 13 runs, six earned, on 12 hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out four. Kaitlyn Rockwell picked up the save pitching 2 ⅓ scoreless allowing a walk and striking out four.

Amy Twigg was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Clearfield while Ruby Singleton hit a home run while going 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Aevril Hayward was also 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs

Megan Wisor took the loss going two innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six four hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out two.
