Fleming, Curwensville Outlast Glendale; Zietz, GM Top Corry; Johnsonburg Bests Ridgway

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Outscoring visiting Glendale by 10 points in the first and fourth quarters combined, Curwensville picked up a 55-46 ICC North victory Thursday.

Davis Fleming went off for 11 first-quarter points helping the Golden Tide to a 15-9 lead at the end of eight minutes.

Glendale then outscored Curwensville, 27-26, in the next two quarters to get within five heading to the fourth quarter.

But the Golden Tide again turned to Fleming, who scored eight more fourth-quarter points to help seal the win.

                                      

Fleming had a monster night finishing with 27 points, while Parker Wood added 12 points.

Glendale was paced by 22 points from Landen McGarvey’s 22 points.

GENERAL MCLANE 59, CORRY 48

EDINBORO, Pa. – Jacob Zietz scored 23 points to help General McLane to a 59-48 win over Corry.

Logan Anderson scored all seven of his points in the first half for GM as they built a 28-20 lead.

                          

Zietz scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half, while Isaac Zietz had 15 points.

Markus Lambert scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half for Corry, while Rylan Smith had 14 points.

JOHNSONBURG 53, RIDGWAY 33

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – A balanced scoring night helped Johnsonburg knock off rival Ridgway, 53-33, in a non-conference matchup.

The game was still fairly close heading to the fourth quarter with Ridgway down just eight, 29-21, despite scoring just 11 points in the middle two quarters.

But the Rams were able to pull away in the fourth quarter outscoring the Elkers, 24-12, behind six points from Luke Zimmerman and five from Eli Perez.

Zimmerman and Isaiah Jackson led Johnsonburg with 12 points each, while Perez added 11 tallies and Eric Hoffman scored eight points.

Alex Merritt had a game-high 13 points for Ridgway.

CATHEDRAL PREP 71, PRESTONWOOD CHRISTIAN (TEXAS) 65

LAS VEGAS – Cathedral Prep picked up its second win in as many days at the Tarkanian Classic, beating Prestonwood Christian (Texas), 71-65.

                                   

The Ramblers finished 2-2 in Las Vegas.

Nando Mirarchi had 16 points to lead a balanced effort for the Ramblers, while Spencer Kanne had 14.

Dax Hovind had 16 points for Prestonwood.

REDBANK VALLEY 64, FREEPORT 53

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Kieran Fricko got hot in the fourth quarter to help Redbank Valley pull away from visiting Freeport, 64-53, to stay unbeaten.

Fricko nailed three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the quarter to help the Bulldogs outscore the Yellow Jackets, 20-10, in the final eight minutes.

Redbank Valley led by just one, 44-43, going to the fourth quarter after falling behind by five, 16-11, at the end of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs tied the game at 23 by halftime on the strength of four points each from Braylon Wagner and Fricko and then took the one-point lead heading to the fourth quarter thanks to a 10-point third-quarter by Wagner, who hit a pair of triples in the frame.

Wagner finished with 14 points while Mason Clouse chipped in with 11 tallies.

Brady Sullivan scored 10 of his team-high 19 points in the first quarter for Freeport, while Gavin Glista added 13 points and Danny King chipped in with nine tallies.

BUCKTAIL 59, NORTHERN POTTER 54

RENOVO, Pa. – Brody Pentz scored 22 points to help Bucktail rally past visiting Northern Potter, 59-54.

The Bucks trailed 19-12 at the end of the first quarter and 35-24 at halftime but outscored the Panthers 35-19 in the second half.

Braylon Fantaski added 13 points in the win.

Nolen Smith scored 18 points for Northern Potter with Ty Daniels scoring 11.

                                  

PORT ALLEGANY 54, OSWAYO VALLEY 20

SHINGLEHOUS, Pa. – Shooting 49% from the floor, visiting Port Allegany rolled to a 54-20 NTL win over Oswayo Valley.

Jarrod Funk had a strong all-around night for the Gators with 15 points, six rebounds, six steals, and three blocks.

Nick Wilfong added 11 points for Port Allegany while Henry Kiser had five rebounds.

Connor Resig paced Oswayo Valley with 11 points.

CAMERON COUNTY 62, COUDERSPORT 28

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Josh Smith, Landon Farren, and Jake Narby combined to score 42 points, as Cameron County picked up an easy 62-28 road NTL win over Coudersport.

Smith led the Red Raiders with 19 points with Farren adding 13 and Narby 10. Ryan Shaffer also scored nine points in the win for Cameron County.

Mason Roessner and Micha Batson both scored seven points for Coudersport.

UNION 54, FOREST AREA 33

TIONESTA, Pa. – Trey and Trent Fleming combined for 33 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals, and seven assists to help Union to a 54-33 road non-league win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Trey Fleming had a game-high 21 points to go with eight rebounds, four steals, and five assists, while Trent Fleming added 12 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two helpers.

Gage Jordan chipped in nine points and seven rebounds for the Golden Knights.

Colton Kuntz paced Forest Area with 11 points with Daniel Custer adding eight.

HOLLIDAYSBURG 66, CLEARFIELD 36

HYDE, Pa. – Winless Clearfield continued to struggle in LHAC East play falling victim to visiting Hollidaysburg, 66-36.

Four Tigers reached double digits led by 13 points from Mason Goodman. Cole Walters added 11 tallies, and Kasen Metzger and Jacob Hileman each scored 10 points.

Braison Patrick led Clearfield with 11 points, Evett Maines added eight points, and Anthony Lopez chipped in seven tallies.

LOUISVILLE (OHIO) 53, MCDOWELL 46

KISSIMMEE, Fla . – Tyler Grove scored 20 points, but it was Louisivlle (Ohio) that handed the Trojans their first loss of the season, 53-46.

Kamden Kramer added 12 points for McDowell.

Hayden Nigro had a game-high 22 points for Louisville.
