Elk County Catholic, Sharon Stay Perfect With Wins; Lakeview Rallies Past Cochranton; J’burg Triumphs

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Three different Elk County Catholic players each scored 14 points to lead the Crusaders to s 59-31 home AML victory over Kane.

Jordan Wasko, Timmy Brannock, and Wil Wortman each scored 14 points for the unbeaten Crusaders (14-0 overall, 7-0 AML).

Brock Wensel scored 10 points for Kane (6-7, 1-4).

SHARON 58, SLIPPERY ROCK 47

                                      

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Derek Douglas led three Sharon players in double figures with 17 points as the Tigers picked up a 58-47 win over Slippery Rock in the Region 5 opener for both teams.

Sharon (12-0 overall, 1-0 Region 5) built an 18-10 lead after the first quarter and led throughout.

Mister Ham scored nine of his 13 points in the first half for the Tigers, while Owen Schenker also had 13 points. Douglas knocked down four 3’s in the win.

Josh Book had a big game in the loss for Slippery Rock (8-5, 0-1), scoring 14 points and pulling down 20 rebounds.

Levi Prementine led the Rockets with 19 points, while Anderson Franco added eight. Slippery Rock was a perfect 14-of-14 from the charity stripe.

                          

LAKEVIEW 50, COCHRANTON 45

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Lakeview outscored Cochranton 23-9 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 50-45 win over the Cardinals in non-region action.

The Sailors (10-4) fell behind 22-6 after the first quarter and trailed 26-13 at halftime before cutting the lead to single digits, 36-27 going to the fourth.

Lucas and Cody Fagley led the way for the Sailors, scoring 23 and 20 points, respectively. Lucas Fagley was 11-of-12 from the free throw line as well for the Sailors, while Cody Fagley knocked down four 3’s.

Brady Rynd and Walker Carroll scored 14 points each for Cochranton (4-8). Dawson Carroll was also in double figures for the Cardinals with 10 points.

JOHNSONBURG 79, SHEFFIELD 35

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Twelve different Johnsonburg players scored to lead the visiting Rams to a 79-35 AML win over Sheffield.

Isaiah Jackson led Johnsonburg (8-5 overall, 3-1 AML) with 15 points, Eli Perez added 14 tallies, and Luke Zimmerman had 10 points.

Also for the Rams, Cade Peterson contributed eight points.

Leihden Wotorson paced Sheffield (5-9, 0-3) with 14 points.

                                   

DUBOIS 46, BRADFORD 32

DUBOIS, Pa. – Maddox Bennett scored 17 points to lead DuBois to a 46-32 D9 League win over Bradford.

Cam Thompson added 11 points for the Beavers (8-5 overall, 2-2 D9 League) while Tyson Kennis scored eight, including six in the first quarter.

Jake Franz had eight points for Bradford (6-7, 1-2) with Talon Reese chipping in seven tallies.

PENNS VALLEY 42, CLEARFIELD 41

HYDE, Pa. – Fletcher Ironside’s layup with four seconds left lifted visiting Penns Valley to a 42-41 win over Clearfield in LHAC East action.

That capped a strong fourth quarter for Ironside, the Rams’ sophomore point guard, who scored eight of his game-high 22 points in the quarter.

Ironside also had five points during an 11-5 third-quarter run for Penns Valley (6-7 overall, 4-5 LHAC East) which helped the Rams erase a 26-21 halftime deficit and take a 32-31 lead into the fourth quarter.

Braison Patrick did his best in the fourth quarter to give Clearfield (3-11, 2-7) the win scoring eight points while hitting a pair of 3-pointers.

Patrick finished the game with 20 points while Anthony Lopez added 11 for the Bison.
