RIDGWAY, Pa. – The District 9 Committee approved a cooperative sports agreement between Clarion and Clarion-Limestone in the sport of softball at its Sept. 19, 2023, meeting held at Fox’s Pizza Den in Ridgway.

The committee heard from C-L principal Rob Sintobin and C-L athletic director Brad Frazier before voting to accept the co-op with two no votes.

Because the co-op pushes the classification to Class 2A (both schools were Class 1A prior to the co-op) the co-op program won’t be eligible for the postseason pending appeal, which the schools have indicated they will do.

In other business, the committee received a letter from the DuBois Central Catholic High School’s administration
concerning violations of the PIAA Constitution. The committee accepted the administration’s plan of action and asked that the administration provide the District 9 committee with the minutes and attendees at a meeting with the
DuBois Central Catholic athletic coaches to prevent similar violations from occurring in the future. There were two negative votes there as well.

Also, as of the meeting date there had been five disqualifications in District 9 during the 2023-24 sports season.

The full meeting minutes can be found on the newly redesigned District 9 website.
