ERIE, Pa. The top seeds held serve at the District 10 singles tennis championships on Saturday at Villa Maria.
Villa’s Tara Thomas rolled to the finals in Class 2A, capped off by a 6-0, 6-0 win over Grove City’s Mary Coulter in the semifinals.
Thomas will meet Hickory’s Daphne Borowicz in the finals on Tuesday. The Hickory senior recorded a 6-4, 6-3 semifinal defeat of Mercyhurst Prep’s No. 2 seed, Alie DiNicola.
In Class 3A, Fairview’s Trinity Fox and McDowell’s Samantha Becker, the top two seeds, will meet in the finals.
Fox notched 6-1, 6-4 victory over McDowell’s Nabiah Bhatti in the semifinals, while McDowell teammates Brooke Lowry and Becker met in the other semifinal match, with Becker winning 6-4, 6-1.
Tuesday’s championship matches are slated for 2 p.m. on Tuesday back at Villa.
