Corry, Cochranton Pick up Close Wins; Franklin Softball Rolls

CORRY, Pa. – Mae Spence’s fifth-inning RBI single broke a 4-4 tie and proved to be the difference in Corry’s 5-4 win over Cathedral Prep.

The game was tied at 1-1 after three innings, with both teams scoring three times in the fourth.

Payton McCray also drove in a run for Corry.

Allison Sawyer got the complete game win, allowing two earned runs on two hits, striking out nine and walking eight.

   

                  

Emalie Thomas and Mya Kaliszewski each drove in a run for the Ramblers.

Morgan Madura took the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) in five innings, striking out 11, allowing six hits and walking four.

COCHRANTON 8, MEADVILLE 7

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Brooklyn Needler laid down a bunt and Claire McCartney scampered home from third after an error with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Cochranton edged Meadville, 8-7.

McCartney had led off the inning with a double.

                          

Cochranton trailed 7-3 going to the sixth, but scored four times in the frame to tie the game.

Jaidin Frayer belted a 2-run home run for the Cardinals, while McCartney was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Dani Hoffman and Peyton Miller each had two hits and scored two runs.

Needler got the win, allowing two unearned runs in three innings, allowing three hits and walking two.

Taylor Reichel was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Meadville, while Addy Kregel was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs and Kendall Mealy was 2-for-4 with two runs.

               

Rylee Kregel took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) in one inning of work on two hits, two strikeouts and one walk.

FRANKLIN 11, ROCKY GROVE 2

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Rilee Hanna was 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs to power Franklin to an 11-2 win over Rocky Grove.

Hitting one spot behind her in the lineup, Abby Boland was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Franklin trailed 1-0 after an inning, but scored a combined eight runs in innings two through four to take an 8-1 lead.

Jersey Swartz was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Franklin, while Gabrielle Laderer was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI and Kirsten Hicks 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Swartz got the complete game win, allowing seven hits and two unearned runs, striking out nine and walking one.

Jillian Cratty drove in both of Rocky Grove’s runs.

Elizabeth Mawhinney allowed six earned runs in the loss, going six innings and allowing 13 hits and striking out six.
