Cochranton, Meadville Softball Use Long Ball To Notch Victories

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Chelsey Freyermuth and Macie Williams both homered as Cochranton beat North East 14-4 in five innings.

Freyermuth had two hits, drove in three, and scored four runs, while Williams had two hits, two RBIs, and two runs, as Cochranton also took advantage of six North East errors.

Katelyn Ewing also was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Dani Hoffman had a double, RBI, and two runs.

Brooklyn Needler got the win, allowing two earned runs in five innings on six hits while striking out six.

Alex Cozzens had a pair of RBIs for North East, while Alaina Rodemoyer had two hits and an RBi.

   

                  

Sydney Wittman suffered the loss, allowing 11 runs (six earned) on six hits and three walks.

MEADVILLE 12, TITUSVILLE 2, 6 innings

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Kendall Mealy and Rylee Kregel, and Lexie Carr all homered as Meadville beat Titusville, 12-2 in six innings.

Kregel finished with three RBIs, while Mealy, Carr, and Addy Kregel all drove in a pair.

Rylee Kregel got the win, allowing one earned run in six innings on four hits, striking out seven.

                          

Jordan Wynn allowed nine earned runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking six.

ROCKY GROVE 20, FOREST AREA 9, 6 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. – Emily Rice drove in six runs as visiting Rocky Grove stunned Forest Area, 20-9, in six innings at West Forest.

Rice was 4-for-6 with a home run, a double, and three runs scored, while RaeLynn Montgomery also hit a home run while going 2-for-6 with two runs scored and four RBIs.

               

Paige Cresswell chipped in three RBIs while going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored, and Elizabeth Mawhinney was 3-of-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Madison McFarland drove in four runs for Forest Area going 4-for-4 with two doubles, two triples, and one run scored, while Anna Stitt was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Mawhinney got the win going six innings giving up nine runs, three earned, on 10 hits, five walks, and a hit batter while striking out three.

Forest Area used four different pitchers.

Izzy Flick took the loss going 1 ⅔ innings allowing nine runs, eight earned, on five hits, five walks, and a hit batter while striking out two.

McFarland gave up nine runs, two earned, on seven hits and five walks while striking out two.

Brenna Thompson pitched a scoreless ⅓ of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, and Mackenzie Mellon pitched one inning allowing two unearned runs on two hits.

KEYSTONE 12, LAKEVIEW 7

KNOX, Pa. – Natalie Bowser had two hits and three RBIs to help Keystone to a 12-7 home win over Lakeview.

Bowser went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

            

Karley Callander also drove in a pair for the Lady Panthers going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Lydia Sheatz was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Leah Exley added a double and a triple for Keystone going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored, and Keira Best was 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Hemi Brazel hit a home run for Lakeview and went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Allison Sontherimer was 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs and Zoe Proper was 1-for-4 with a double, an RI, and two runs scored.

Bowser got the win going five innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits and a hit batter while striking out five.
