Clover Becomes 16th A-C Valley Player to 1,000 Point but Troutman, Cambridge Spring Prevail in OT

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Jay Clover became the District 9-record 16th A-C Valley boys’ basketball player to reach 1,000 career points, but home-standing Cambridge Springs spoiled the celebration with a 79-75 overtime win.

Clover needed 16 points coming into the game to reach the milestone and did so with an old-school 3-pointer in the second quarter.

Behind 18 first-half points from Clover, A-C Valley (8-10) led 37-33 at halftime, and the Falcons were still up three, 52-49, going to the fourth quarter.

But Cambridge Springs (13-5) rallied in the fourth quarter behind three 3-pointers and 16 points from Tyler Troutman to tie the game at 72 at the end of regulation.

Then in overtime, the Blue Devils got five more points from Troutman to outscore A-C Valley, 7-3, and get the win.

Troutman finished with a game-high 35 points while Parker Schmidt added 21 points and Owen Riley 14.

Clover had a team-best 26 for A-C Valley with Zahsheen Levins adding 17 points, Brody Dittman 14 tallies, and Henry Stevannus 10 points.

                          

With 1,010 career points, Clover is 31 behind Jesse Morrison (Class of 2004) for 15th in school history. The 16 1,000-point scorers by the Falcons are the most of any team in District 9 history.
