Chester Leads Sharon Past Farrell; Union City, Titusville Win; ECC Takes Elk Co. Tournament (Aug. 30 VB Recaps)

FARREL, Pa. – Tay Chester had seven kills and 12 digs to lead visiting Sharon to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-19) win over Farrell.

Ondrea Young had a team-high eight kills while Claire Bodien had seven service aces. Kylie Weirick added eight digs and Cam Krecek five digs.

Jamoria Crumby had 15 set assists and Emmalie Yobe had eight set assists and five aces.

UNION CITY 3, ERIE 0

UNION CITY, Pa. – Cathryn Reynolds had eight kills, eight digs, and three aces to sweep past visiting Erie, 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-11).

            

Brooke Wienczkowski added five kills for Union City with Masie Higley chipping in three kills.

Emmie Lewendowski also had five digs for the Bears with Angie Hopson contributing two blocks and two kills.

Alyssa Tingley ran the offense with 15 set assists and added seven digs and four aces.

TITUSVILLE 3, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Titusville knocked off homestanding Oil City, 3-1 (25-15, 25-12, 23-25, 25-15), behind seven aces, three kills, seven set assists, a dig, and a block from Claire Emminger.

                          

Chloe Miller added eight kills and two digs for the Rockets with Kyra Atkins chipping in seven digs, three kills, and an ace, and Jordan Wynn adding seven aces and three kills.

Molly Mietus led Oil City with eight kills, nine blocks, and eight digs while Nikki Petro added four kills and five blocks.

Libbie Amink chipped in eight digs for the Oilers, and Chayse Skinner ran the offense with 15 set assists.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC WINS ELK COUNTY TOURNAMENT

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Host Elk County Catholic won the Elk County Tournament beating St. Marys, 2-0 (25-15, 25-8) in the championship match.

The Lady Crusaders were a perfect 6-0 in pool play sets while St. Marys was 3-3, Johnsonburg 2-4, and Ridgway 1-5.

Johnsonbiurg topped Ridgway, 30-9, in the consolation match.

ECC and St. Marys both placed two on the all-tournament team with Tori Newton and Reagan Bauer representing the Lady Crusaders and Jianna Gerg and Hannah Ritter representing St. Marys.

Kiera Marciniak was all-tournament for Johnsonburg and Brooke Bullers was all-tournament for Ridgway.

IROQUOIS 3, YOUNGSVILLE 0

                        

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Grace Abele had 11 kills to lead visiting Iroquois to a 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 27-25) win over Youngsville.

Mila Gehrlein-Carpenter ran the offense for Iroquois with 20 set assists.
