C-L Holds off Brookville; Sharon Edges Hickory in OT; Franklin Wraps up Region 6 Title; ECC Claims D9 League Crown

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Paul Craig went 6 of 6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help Clarion-Limestone finish off a 53-46 win over visiting Brookville.

The Lions (14-8) trailed by two, 21-19, at halftime but took a 31-28 lead going into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Raiders (11-10), 22-18, in the final eight minutes.

In addition to Paul Craig’s six free throws, Jase Ferguson added six points and Jack Craig, Paul’s older brother, chipped in five points in the fourth.

Ferguson led C-L with 22 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while the Craig boys each scored nine points. Ty Rankin added dic points, 14 rebounds, and five steals.

                                      

Jack Pete had 20 points for Brookville, while Kellan Haines added 15 points including eight in the fourth quarter when he hit a pair of 3-pointers trying to rally the Raiders.

SHARON 49, HICKORY 48, overtime

SHARON, Pa. – Derek Douglas scored 16 points as Sharon outlasted Hickory in overtime to pick up a key Region 5 win, 49-48.

Sharon’s (18-3 overall, 7-2 Region 5) Levi Hailstock hit a 3-pointer to give the Tigers a 43-40 lead with just under two minutes to play in the fourth, but Hickory rallied to tie it and send the game to overtime at 43 apiece.

In overtime, Sharon’s Mister Ham came up with a pair of clutch baskets to help the Tigers to the win.

                          

Hailstock finished with 11 points and Ham, Tino Piccirilli and Bishop Root six points each.

Rylan Dye had 13 points for Hickory (13-7, 5-4), nine of which came in the fourth quarter and overtime, while Marco Miller had 11 and Landon Bean 10.

FRANKLIN 90, CONNEAUT 41

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Jalen Wood led four Franklin players in double figures with 24 points as the Knights wrapped up the outright Region 6 title with a 90-41 win over Conneaut.

The win, coupled with Warren’s 59-40 win over Oil City, secured the outright title for Franklin (17-4 overall, 9-0 Region 6).

Damon Curry had 18 points in the win for Franklin, while Gavin Eakin and Darrius Graham had 11 points each.

Shakiir Jordan led CASH (10-11, 2-7) with 13 points, while Alex Brady netted 12.

WARREN 59, OIL CITY 40

WARREN, Pa. – Leading 31-30 at halftime, Warren outscored Oil City 28-10 in the second half for a 59-40 Region 6 win.

In doing so, the Dragons (16-5, 6-3) avenged a 44-42 loss to the Oilers on Jan. 26.

                                   

Braylon Barnes led with 18 points, while Konnor Hoffman netted 11, Logan Crissey nine and Tommy Nyquist and Chase Sitler eight each.

Ethen Knox led Oil City (16-5, 7-2) with 10 points, while Will McMahon and Sayyid Donald had nine each.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 41, BRADFORD 35

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Building a nine-point lead going to the fourth quarter, Elk County Catholic secured its first D9 League title since 2020 with a 41-35 win over visiting Bradford.

The Crusaders (21-1, 9-1) led 30-21 after the third quarter and then survived going 4 of 10 in the final eight minutes to get the win.

Colby Nusbbaum led ECC with 15 points while Wil Wortman added 11.

Brendan Warner paced Bradford (8-13, 1-8) with 14 points with Chase Wineberg adding 11.

ST. MARYS 61, BROCKWAY 33

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Matt Davis scored 14 points to lead St. Marys to a 61-33 win over visiting Brockway in AML action.

Anthony Nedzinski added 10 points for the Dutch (10-12 overall, 7-3 AML South) with Ben Paul chipping in nine points and Dan Schutz adding eight.

Aiden Paton led Brockway (2-19, 0-9) with nine points with Kyle Kennedy adding seven.

PORT ALLEGANY 55, AUSTIN 34

AUSTIN, Pa. – Isac Amell led a balanced Port Allegany attack with 12 points in a 55-34 road NTL win over Austin.

Jarrod Funk added 10 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and three steals for the Gators (13-9 overall, 11-5 NTL) while Jake Causer and Nick Wilfong both had eight points. Braylon Button snagged eight rebounds while scoring seven points.

Dawson Hooftallen led Austin (4-18, 4-12) with 13 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Brayden Stuckey added nine points.

                                  

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 48, SAEGERTOWN 37

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Parker Schmidt scored 17 points as Cambridge Springs beat Saegertown, 48-37, setting up a potential three-way tie for the Region 3 title.

Saegertown finishes at 10-2 in Region 3 play (15-6 overall), while with the win Cambridge Springs goes to 9-2, tied with Eisenhower. The Blue Devils play Cochranton to close the regular season, while Eisenhower finishes with Youngsville. Should they both win, the three teams would share the region title.

Cambridge Springs led 31-30 going to the fourth quarter and outscored Saegertown 17-7 over the final eight minutes to secure the win.

Schmidt had eight points in the fourth quarter, while Tyler Troutman finished with 11 and Tristan Mazzadra nine.

Luke Young had nine points for Saegertown, while Cody Huson and Jackson Scott tallied eight each.

EISENHOWER 64, UNION CITY 28

RUSSELL, Pa. – Austin Hanson scored 15 points as Eisenhower picked up an important Region 3 win over Union City.

With the, the Knights set up a potential three-way tie for the Region 3 title after Cambridge Springs beat Saegertown (see above).

Eisenhower (17-4 overall, 9-2 Region 3) led 38-14 at halftime en route to the win.

Kris Bunk tallied 12 points and Kyler Black 10 for the Knights.

Brady Blakeslee and Daniel McNulty had five points each for Union City (3-18, 1-10).

GALETON 51, NORTHERN POTTER 43

GALETON, Pa. – Behind three players in double digits, Galeton beat visiting Northern Potter, 51-43, in NTL play.

Braiden Cimino led the Tigers (10-11 overall, 8-8 NTL) with 15 points, Zach Pagano added 13 points, and John Martin had 11.

Nolen Smith led Northern Potter (8-14, 6-10) with 12 points with Malachai Lewis adding eight tallies.

CAMERON COUNTY 80, OSWAYO VALLEY 41

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Ryan Shaffer and Josh Smith combined for 36 points in an 80-41 Cameron County home NTL win over Oswayo Valley.

Shaffer led the Red Raiders (19-3 overall, 14-2 NTL) with 19 points with Smith adding 17.

Landon Farren also reached double digits with 14 points for Cameron County.

Conner Resig and Dawson Welch each scored 10 points for Oswayo Valley (2-17, 2-14).

CRANBERRY 82, KANE 58

KANE, Pa. – Ethan Merryman exploded for a career-high 26 points to lead Cranberry to an 82-58 road win over Kane.

All 26 of Merryman’s points came in the first three quarters including him knocking down four 3-pointers. He scored 12 points in the third quarter and nine in the first quarter.

Cole Findlay added 13 points for the Berries (13-9) with Connor Morrow chipping in 12 tallies.

Dane Anderson had 19 points for Kane (8-14) with Sam Lundeen adding 15.

CLEARFIELD 65, CURWENSVILLE 32

HYDE, Pa. – Clearfield picked up its second win of the season against nearby Curwensville beating the visiting Golden Tide, 65-32.

Braison Patrick knocked down five 3-pointers on his way to a 27-point night for the Bison (5-17). Patrick also had five rebounds.

Anthony Lopez also hit four triples for Clearfield, the Bison had 12 in the game, and finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Evett Maines chipped in with 11 points.

Parker Wood paced Curwensville (10-11) with 11 points with Davis Fleming and Grant Swanson each scoring eight.

KARNS CITY 67, A-C VALLEY 46

FOXBURG, Pa. – In non-league road action, Karns City got 21 points from Shane Peters on its way to a 67-46 win over A-C Valley.

Hobie Bartoe chipped in 15 points for the Gremlins (16-6) with Jacob Callihan and Colton Ritzert each adding eight points.

A-C Valley (8-14) got 19 points from Jay Clover.

WEST SHAMOKIN 61, MONITEAU 51

RURAL VALLEY, Pa. – Braydn Rodgers netted 20 points to lead West Shamokin past visiting Moniteau, 61-51.

Ezra Oesterling added 13 points for the Wolves (13-9) while Alex Talmadge added 11 points.

Moniteau (11-10) got 18 points from Chason Delarosa-Rugg and 10 from Andew Zepeda.

ERIE 83, FORT LEBOEUF 35

ERIE, Pa. – Jamarius Johnson scored 24 points as Erie powered past Fort LeBoeuf in Region 7 action, 83-35.

Johnson was the only Royal (15-6 overall, 9-2 Region 7) in double figures, but they did have 12 different players score in the win, with Layveon Gore and Devin McCullum tallying nine points each.

With the win, Erie kept pace with McDowell atop the Region 7 standings with one game to play.

Carson Papay led Fort LeBoeuf (6-15, 1-11) with 18 points.

GIRARD 83, SENECA 36

GIRARD, Pa. – Region 4 champion Girard buried 14 3-pointers in an 83-36 win over Seneca.

Nate Edwards led the way for the Yellow Jackets (19-2, 12-1) with 28 points, one of three players in double figures.

Ryan Pratt buried four triples and finished with 16 points, while Geremia Dell’omo tallied 10. Ten different Girard players scored in the win.

Lucas Rupp had 11 points for Seneca (7-14, 6-7).

CATHEDRAL PREP 62, HARBOR CREEK 37

ERIE, Pa. – Amaree Pickens scored 20 points as Cathedral Prep earned a 62-37 Region 7 win over Harbor Creek.

Pickens had 11 points in the first half in helping Prep (11-10, 8-3) to a 32-18 halftime advantage.

Derek Galla added 12 points for the Ramblers, while RJ Roberts and Nando Mirarchi had 10 points apiece.

Hayden Dylewski had 11 points for Harbor Creek (9-12, 3-8), while Braylen Wilson had seven points and 15 rebounds.

GROVE CITY 72, WILMINGTON 14

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Brett Loughry scored 17 points to lead four Grove City players in double figures in a 72-14 win over Wilmington.

The Eagles (12-9 overall, 7-2 Region 5) are in a tie for first in the region with Sharon with one game to play.

Gavin Lutz tallied 13 points for the Eagles, while Paul Gubba added 12 and Nathan Greer 10.

SLIPPERY ROCK 73, GREENVILLE 44

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Josh Book had 32 points and 20 rebounds to power Slippery Rock to a 73-44 Region 5 win over Greenville.

With the win, Slippery Rock (14-7 overall, 6-3 Region 5) remained in the thick of the Region 5 race, one game behind Grove City and Sharon with one game to play.

Levi Prementine had 18 points and six steals for the Rockets, while Max Kovacik tallied 15 points.

Noah Philson had 22 points for Greenville (9-12, 2-7), while Mason Vannoy had 11.

CORRY 69, TITUSVILLE 61

CORRY, Pa. – Markus Lambert scored 26 points as Corry picked up a 69-61 Region 6 win over Titusville.

The Beavers (13-8 overall, 3-6 Region 6) knocked down 10 3-pointers in the game, with Kamdyn Moon accounting for five and Rylan Smith four.

Smith finished with 19 points and Moon 15.

Devon Kurshinske led Titusville (6-15, 0-9) with 22 points, while Isiah Colon had 16 and Hudson Fratus 12.

ROCKY GROVE 73, JAMESTOWN 33

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Landen Carter had 19 points and Noah Baughman 18 as Rocky Grove topped Jamestown, 73-33.

Schiffer Anderson tallied seven assists and four steals for RG (14-7 overall, 5-2 Region 1), while Josh Stevenson had six steals.

Gage Planavsky had 14 points for Jamestown (6-15, 3-4).

COCHRANTON 68, YOUNGSVILLE 48

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Cochranton outscored Youngsville 40-24 in the second half to pull away for a 68-48 Region 3 road win.

Walker Carroll poured in 25 points for the Cardinals (9-12, 6-6), while Dawson Carroll added 15.

Carson Chase had 17 points and Rylan Benton 14 for Youngsville (8-13, 3-8).

MERCER 73, WEST MIDDLESEX 42

MERCER, Pa. – Region 2 champion Mercer got 18 points from Cole Cunningham in a 73-42 win over West Middlesex.

Jayden Amos had 18 points and Dae Mattocks 15 for the Mustangs (18-3 overall, 7-0 Region 2).

Brayden Covert and Roman Golub had 12 points each for West Middlesex (4-17, 1-6).
