Brockway Karns City Advance to D9 1A Girls’ Soccer Title Game; LeBoeuf, GM, Prep Fairview Move on to D10 2A Girls’ Semis

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Josie Orinko stopped a penalty kick off the foot of Lauren Castellan with just over 17 minutes remaining to help Brockway fend off Brookville, 3-2 in the District 9 Class 1A semifinals.

“I was just thinking we had to get it, and I just knew I had to go for it,” said Orinko, the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game during the Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview. “We were just really focused and drowned out all the noise. It was really loud out here tonight. I knew I just had to go with my gut and get the ball.”

Brockway built a 3-1 lead on the strength of goals from Ana Hughes, Gabby Pisarcik and Reagan Gelnette.

Hughes struck first at the 34:19 mark of the first half on an assist from Mia Martino.

Brookville’s Kaida Yoder tied it at the 18:26 mark of the first half to knot it at 1-1 before Brockway struck twice, and quickly.

Gabby Pisarcik and Reagan Gelnette scored less than 10 minutes apart to give Brockway a 3-1 lead with 9:09 left in the half.

                          

That proved to be all Brockway needed – but barley.

Ally Wilson scored off a corner kick to get Brookville within to with 25:43 to go in regulation, with Brockway’s defense, led by Zoe Puhala, keeping the Raiders off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

With the win, Brockway advances to play top seed Karns City for the title at a date, site and time to be determined.

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Karns City is back in the District 9 championship game.

Hanna Dailey led the way for Karns City with a pair of goals.

Layla Colsey and Phoebe Brandon had one goal each for the Gremlins.

D10 CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS

(1) FORT LEBOEUF 9, (9) CORRY 0

ERIE, Pa. – Ashley Froess recorded a hat trick as Fort LeBoeuf rolled to a 9-0 win over Corry.

                        

Fort LeBoeuf led 6-0 at halftime en route to the win.

Emily Samluck, Jenna Popowski and Haylee Will scored two goals each for the Bison.

With the win, LeBoeuf advances to play No. 5 Fairview in the semifinals.

(2) CATHEDRAL PREP 4, (7) HARBOR CREEK 1

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Cathedral Prep built a 3-0 halftime lead on its way to a 4-1 quarterfinal win over Harbor Creek.

         

Four different Ramblers – Brooklyn DiRaimo, Olivia Dixon, Shelby Abogunde and Callie Cacchione found the back of the net in the win.

Dixon, Cacchione and DiRaimo all had assists in the win as well.

Prep will meet No. 3 General McLane in the semifinals.

(3) GENERAL MCLANE 3, (6) GROVE CITY 0

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Lena Bookhamer scored a pair of goals as General McLane blanked Grove City, 3-0 in the D10 quarterfinals.

McLane, which led 2-0, also got a goal from Sydney Rotko.

Sophia Allison had two assists for the Lancers, while Rotko had one.

Bella Dibble had the shutout in net.

(5) FAIRVIEW 3, (4) NORTH EAST 0

ERIE, Pa. – Fairview scored just under three minutes into the game, which turned out to be all Fairview needed in a 3-0 quarterfinal win over North East.

Isabel Owens and Hannah Lindenberger scored for the Tigers in the first half.

Sophie Fritts scored in the second half for Fairview.

D9 3A BOYS’ SEMIFINALS

(2) BRADFORD 5, (3) CLEARFIELD 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Mitch Strauss had two goals and an assist as Bradford moved into the D9 Class 3A title game with a 5-0 win over Clearfield.

Andy Mangold, Ward Kennedy and Tyler Simmons had one goal each for the Owls, with Mangold also notching two assists.

Tristan Dragoone had six saves in net to earn the shutout.

With the win, Bradford advances to play top seed DuBois in the championship game on Monday at 7 p.m. at Brockway.
