BREAKING NEWS: Reynolds Wins Record 5th Straight PIAA Team Dual Wrestling Title

MECHANICSBURG – Reynolds climbed out of a 22-3 hole to come back and claim a 31-22 win over Southern Columbia and a record fifth straight PIAA Class 2A Team Dual Wrestling Championship at Cumberland Valley High School Saturday.

With the win, the Raiders became the first District 10 team, in any sport, to win five straight state championships. This is Reynolds’ eighth overall team wrestling title, a state record.

Reynolds was down 22-3 following the 189-pound bout. Cole Toy’s 5-4 decision at 215 started a run of seven straight wins for the Raiders.

Rocco John-Daniello (285) and Logan Hammerschmidt (106) followed with first-period pinfalls to close the gap to 22-18. Chase Bell picked up a major decision at 113 to tie the match at 22-22.

Liam Foore’s 7-2 decision victory at 120 put Reynolds in front for the first time, 25-22, and Gary Steen won a 2-0 decision at 126 to make sure the Tigers would need a pinfall to tie the match.

Kane Kettering sealed the championship with a 6-1 decision at 132.
