Cathedral Prep (Class 3A) Rolls, Brookville (Class 2A) Falls in First Round of PIAA Team Wrestling Championships

ERIE, Pa. – Cathedral Prep was dominant on Monday, making quick work of Carrick in the first round of the PIAA Class 3A team wrestling championships in Erie.

                        

The Ramblers got six pins from Kelyn Blossey, Owen Shetler, John Campbell, Phillip Stark, Elijah Hunt and Clay Mallory. Five of those came in the first period. Prep also won four matches by forfeit and another by injury default.

Two weight classes (106, 113) went uncontested.

The Ramblers move and will travel to face WPIAL Waynesburg Central in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

CHESTNUT RIDGE 41, BROOKVILLE 21

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Chesnut Ridge knocked Brookville out in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A team wrestling championships on Monday, beating the Raiders 41-21.

The win marked the second for CR over the Raiders this season. They also defeated them 38-28 in the Ultimate Duals on Jan. 23.

Logan Oakes earned a 6-4 decision for the Raiders at 120 pounds, while Bryce Rafferty got a second-period pin at 215. Nathan Taylor (285) and Owen Reinsel (126) received forfeit victories for the Raiders.

                          

Chestnut Ridge moves on to face Burrell in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
