HERSHEY, Pa. – Cathedral Prep’s Jacob Van Dee is a PIAA champion.
The Rambler captured gold in the Class 3A 113-pound weight class with a 3-1 decision over Delaware Valley’s Zachary Jacaruso.
Van Dee, a junior, took silver at 106 pounds a year ago.
Van Dee won his quarterfinal match, 2-0 over Charlie Bunting of Nazareth, and earned a 4-2 decision against Cael McIntyre of Bethlehem Catholic in the semifinals.
Fellow Rambler Paniro Johnson lost in the semifinals but rallied to take third, thanks to an 8-3 decision over Evan Gleason of Bethlehem Catholic and an 8-5 decision against Connellsville’s Jared Keslar.
DuBois’ Chandler Ho advanced to the semifinals before a 6-0 loss to Finn Solomon of Franklin Regional. Ho went on to finish sixth.
