CLARION, Pa. – Redbank Valley and Farrell both advanced to the PIAA semifinals with wins Friday night.
Redbank Valley got a 47-yard touchdown run from Brenden Shreckengost early in the fourth quarter then made a stop inside the 10-yard line with under a minute to play to beat Northern Bedford, 21-14, in Class 1A action.
A big second half allowed Farrell to stay unbeaten with a 30-12 win at Karns City. The Steelers led 8-6 at halftime but had the lead to 22-6 by the end of the third quarter, in Class 2A action.
Meanwhile, Grove City dropped a 35-6 decision to Central-Martinsburg in Class 3A play, and McDowell fell Mt. Lebanon 47-14 in Class 6A action.
Redbank Valley will play Bishop Canevin in the semifinals next week, while Farrell will take on Serra Catholic in the semifinals.
