Pisarchick became the third Brockway wrestler, the 11th District 9 Class 2A wrestler, and the 37th overall District 9 wrestler to win four District 9 titles when he outlasted Cranberry’s Elijah Brosius, 4-3, at 127 pounds Saturday afternoon at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gym.

In doing so, Pisarchick joins his next-door neighbor, Anthony Glasl, in the four-championship club, which was at the top of the Rover senior’s mind.

“It’s great,” Pisarchick said. “It’s great. My neighbor, Anthony Glasl, he grew up right next to me, right next door. He was the last Brockway wrestler to do it four times. I have just been ready to join him.”

Pisarchick said it’s just a neighborhood mentality.

“Just growing up, it’s a good neighborhood,” Pisarchick said. “We have parents who push us, take us places. It’s a good place to be.”

Winning his fourth title wasn’t an easy task for Pisarchick, who won titles at 106 pounds as a freshman, 113 pounds as a sophomore, and 114 pounds as a junior, against Broscius, who was the D9 runner-up at 121 pounds a year ago.

Pisarchick took a 2-0 lead after one period thanks to a takedown at 1:09.

The second period, though, was scoreless, before Pisarchick went up 3-0 when he escaped nine seconds into the third period.

Broscius, though, came up with a takedown of his own with 47 seconds left to make it 3-2 before allowing Pisarchick to escape immediately to make it 4-2.

The wrestlers then had three straight neutral starts at 26 seconds, nine seconds, and three seconds with Pisarchick giving up a stalling point at nine seconds before holding off Broscius for the victory.

“We are both good wrestlers,” Pisarchick said. “Coming into tomorrow, there could be a new champ in D9. But, today, it’s me. I wrestled well and took what was mine.”

Despite the closeness of the match, Pisarchick said he never was worried about winning.

“I kept my confidence,” Pisarchick said. “I am the better wrestler. I am going to prove that to everyone here today.”

Pisarchick path to the championship was anything but easy.

After a first-round bye, he beat Central Clarion’s Grayson Aaron in the quarterfinals 6-3 before needing an 8-6 sudden victory win over Clearfield’s Brydin Chamberlain in the semifinals.

In that semifinal match, Pisarchick was in trouble going down 6-2 following a nearfall by Chamberlain at 1:03 of the second period. That was the sixth straight point for Chamberlain.

But the Brockway grappler got a key takedown at the 31-second mark of the second period to stem the tide before earning two points on a reversal at the 1:26 mark of the third period to force overtime.

Then in the extra session, Pisarchick took down Chamberlain at the 47-second mark to get the victory.

In addition to Glasl (2017-20), the other four-time champion from Brockway is Andy Rendos (2003-06).

The last District 9 four-time champion was Brookville’s Owen Reinsel (2019-22).
