Moniteau, C-L, ECC Take Home 2021 District 9 Competitive Spirit Championships

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Moniteau (Small Division), Clarion-Limestone (Co-Ed Division), and Elk County Catholic (Large Division) took home District 9 Competitive Spirit Championships Saturday afternoon at Moniteau High School.

In addition, Karns City, the second-place finisher in the Large School Division, secured the fourth PIAA qualifying spot out of District 9.

Moniteau took home the Small Division with a score of 73.4. A-C Valley was second with 70.2, and Punxsutawney finished third with 40.9.

Moniteau’s squad was made up of seniors Emma Barkley, Hailey Campbell, and Marissa Menchyk, juniors Victoria DeMatteis, Alexandria Lasichak, Shayla Nagy, and Kylee Surrena, sophomores Ashlyn Baptiste, Molly Grossman, Rylee Long, and Carmella Ryan, and freshmen Samantha Smith, Kelsey Stewart, and Isabella Osborne.

C-L won the Co-Ed Division with a score of 57.7 edging DuBois by 3/10th of a point. The Beavers finished with a score of 57.4. Johnsonburg was close behind in third place with a score of 54.5

The Lions squad consisted of seniors Taylor Aites, Brooke Baughman, Lauren Hartle, Taylor Kimble, Mabelle Reed, and Mason Senard, juniors Victoria Beichner and Regina Snyder, sophomore Aurora Dougherty, and freshmen Zoey Ferguson, Abigail Foster, Abigail Knapp, and Lilly Mahle.

ECC took home the Large Division with a score of 76.4 with Karns City second with 75.8. By virtue of having the second-highest overall score, the Lady Gremlins also advanced to the PIAA Championships.

Making up ECC’s squad were seniors Elizabeth Anderson, Gina Carnovale, Mary Cerroni, Vivian Mader, and Karalyn Vanderen, juniors Holly Buttery, Elena Cerroni and Marissa Ruffner, and sophomores Rulie Belsole, Madison Bierley, Brandi Casper, Italia Cicione, Tessa Fledderman, Sophia Gerg, Madisyn Hetrick, Josie Lawrie, Biancia Lynch, Anna Micale, Sarah Reedy, Tiffany Sherry, and Madalynn Troha, and freshmen Anabelle Chemelli, Isabel Cicione, Jenna Ferovti, Ella Hagar, Jaidyn Hodgdon, Kiley Pesce, and Alana Pistner.

Karns City’s team consisted of seniors Mira Codispot, Raecshel Golling, Katelyn Grazioli, Lilli Martin, Kirsten Mauthe, Whitney Moore, Jillian Morrow, Shavon McCanna, Addison Ritzert, Jordan Rottman, and Lilly Rottman, juniors Cara Craig, Madyson Fields, Cecelia Henry, Olivia Rumbaugh, Kiara Simpson, Abby Stewart, and Caleigh Tack, sophomores Reese Booher, Megan Crawford, Brooke Crissman, Sarah McDonald, Cecilia Morrow, Allyn Neely, Abby Simmons, Meghan Sirich, and Emma Slaughenhoup, and freshman Cayley Craig, Karissa Hawk, and Kendall Ritzert.
