Nine D9/10 grapplers advanced to the semifinals, but went a combined 0-9.

Some of those losses came in very tight fashion, as Cranberry’s Dane Wenner (114) dropped a 3-2 decision to Trinity’s William Detar, Reynolds’ Louie Gill (121) via a 7-5 decision to Greyson of Bishop McDevitt, Grove City’s Cody Hamilton (152) 1-0 to Max Stein of Faith Christian Academy and Port Allegany’s Carson Neely (285), 3-2 in an ultimate tiebreaker to Brody Kline of Berks Catholic.

Also falling in the semifinals were Reynolds’ Logan Stewart (127) and Chase Bell (139), Brookville’s Cole Householder (145), Girard’s Story Buchanan (160) and Brookville’s Gavin Hannah (215).

Still, a number of D9/10 wrestlers will be coming home with some hardware.

Consolation matches get underway at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with third, fifth and seventh place matches beginning at 11:30 a.m.
