OIL CITY, Pa. – Leading 23-18 at halftime, No. 1 Franklin went on a 31-8 run in the third quarter to power past No. 4 Mercyhurst Prep, 68-43 and into the District 10 Class 3A championship game.
Jalen Wood scored 11 of his 28 points in the third quarter for Franklin (20-4), while Damon Curry knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Franklin hit nine 3-pointers in the game, five of the game coming from Wood.
Curry and Dreyden Payne had 11 points each for Franklin, which will see its fourth consecutive District 9 Class 3A title on Friday at a site and time to be determined against Girard.
Cole Buckley added eight points for Franklin.
Craig Bruckner had 12 points and Max Brusz eight for the Lakers (16-8), who will play Fairview on Friday in the third-place game at a site and time to be determined.
GIRARD 56, FAIRVIEW 38
ERIE, Pa. – No. 2 Girard went on a 15-6 run in the second quarter to take control in a 56-38 win over No. 6 Fairview in the District 10 Class 3A semifinals.
The win was the third this season for the Yellow Jackets (22-2) over the Tigers (9-15) this season.
Girard led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter and 31-20 at halftime.
Nate Edwards was the offensive catalyst for Girard with 24 points, one of three Yellow Jackets in double figures.
Zach Kelley had 12 points on four 3-pointers for Girard, while Kenny Godoy tallied 11.
The Jackets advance to play Franklin for the D10 title on Friday at a site and time to be determined, while Fairview will meet Girard in the third-place game.
