WARREN, Pa. – It was a game for the ages.

Slippery Rock’s Dylan Gordon beat the buzzer twice to extend the game, but it was Warren that came out on top, 88-83 in triple overtime in the District 10 Class 4A quarterfinals, delivering one of the most memorable playoff games in recent memory.

Warren raced out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, but Slippery Rock battled back, staying within striking distance of the Dragons for the majority of the game.

With the game tied at 56, Warren’s Parks Ordiway hit a 3 with three seconds left in regulation to give Warren the lead. Slippery Rock called timeout and Gordon took the ensuing inbounds pass, got to the top of the key, rose up, and drilled a 3 of his own to send the game to overtime.

Slippery Rock took its first lead of the game in the first overtime, 61-59 on a Jacob Wolak jumper.

With the game tied a 64, Slippery Rock’s John Sabo slipped and was called for a travel, but the Dragons weren’t able to get a shot off in time, sending the game to a second overtime.

In the second extra session, Owen Becker’s traditional 3-point play gave Warren a 73-69 advantage. Gordon answered with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to one.

Tommy Nyquist was fouled with 8.9 seconds left and knocked down both shots to put the Dragons ahead, 75-72. Following a timeout, Sabo brought the ball across midcourt and flared a pass to Gordon, who once again knocked down a 3 at the buzzer to send the game to a third overtime.

Ordiway had a steal and a layup to start the third overtime, Braylon Barnes knocked down a key 3 and Nyquist knocked down a pair of free throws with 23 seconds left to put Warren up 86-83. Slippery Rock’s Josh Book missed a 3 on the other end and Ordiway knocked down a pair of free throws to finally put the game away.

Brady Berdine had a big first half and led the Dragons with 21 points. Nyquist had 19 points, Owen Becker added 17 points, Ordiway finished with 15, and Barnes had 14.

Gordon had a game-high 24 points for the Rockets. Book and Levi Prementine each had 18 points and Wolak added 12 points.
