What does it look like for a band member under those Friday Night Lights?
- Being under the lights is a whole different feeling than just an after-school practice. The anticipation of the next down beat or the satisfaction you feel when you finish your first show. Feeling so proud of the band that you’re in no matter how big, small, flashy or simple you are. They might be small moments in a big life, but they
are life-changing. – Katie Miller ’23 – Sr. Drum Major
What are some traditions your band has?:
- We are called the Conneaut Area “Rock n’ Roll” Marching Band
- When the football teams, the students wear their shakos backward as we exit the stadium.
- We have a kick-off picnic for all band members and extended family to start the season.
- We have a “Senior Circle” at the Meadville Halloween Parade where seniors get to share their fondest memories and express their thoughts about the season and the impact of marching band throughout their careers.
- We close out the season with a “Year-End Party” following the Meadville Halloween Parade to celebrate and socialize.
What are some of the band’s goals moving forward? —
- Our goals moving forward are to rebuild post-Covid… I.e. to continue to grow in size, continue to improve our individual and ensemble skills, and to be as entertaining as possible for our audiences.
