Steiner Helps Sharpsville Pull Away from Union/ACV; McBridge Paces Prep in Interstate Win

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Fresh of a buzzer-beater to beat Slippery Rock on Thursday, Sharpsville’s Macie Steiner followed that up with 26 points in a 62-46 win over Union/A-C Valley on Saturday.

The Blue Devils (10-10) got off to a bit of a slow start after earning a 61-24 win in the first matchup between the two teams back on Dec. 29.

                                      

Lily Palko hit a 3-pointer just before halftime to give Sharpsville a 25-22 lead.

The Blue Devils went on to 16-8 in the third quarter to gain some breathing room and led by as many as 21 in the fourth quarter.

Steiner scored 11 of those points in the third quarter on her way to Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game honors.

“We have big goals, and we’re just working every day to try and bring each other up and get some energy so we can go into the playoffs and get some stuff done,” Steiner said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview.

Steiner finished with nine rebounds to go with her 26 points while Palko had 12 points and three assists and Brooklyn Ramsey eight points.

Maddy Dehart had a big game for Union/A-C Valley (2-19) with 21 points, while Kya Wetzel added eight.

HARBOR CREEK 59, CONNEAUT 45

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Broke Przybylski scored 25 points as Harbor Creek rallied for a 59-45 win over Conneaut in non-region action.

Conneaut (14-6) led 28-18 at halftime after holding Harbor Creek scoreless in the second quarter, but the Huskies went on a 17-4 run in the third quarter to take a 35-32 lead.

The Huskies than closed the fourth quarter by outscoring the Eagles 24-13, as Przybylski knocked down all five of her 3-pointers in the second half.

Talon King added 10 points for Harbor Creek (11-8).

Lainie Harrington had 21 points, seven rebounds and six steals for CASH, while Courtney Perrye had 10 points and Hannah Brady five rebounds and four steals.

CATHEDRAL PREP 60, SOLON (OHIO) 42

                                   

SOLON, Ohio – Jayden McBride scored 16 points to lead Cathedral Prep to a 60-42 win over Solon (Ohio).

Lena Walz and Addie Biel added 14 points each for the Ramblers.

Mackenzie Blackford had 16 points for Solon.

INDIANA 46, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 25

INDIANA, Pa. – Bella Antonacci scored 14 points to help Indiana top visiting DuBois Central Catholic, 46-25.

Julia Antonacci added 13 points for the Little Indians (17-5), who are coached by former St. Marys coach Michael Franciscus.

Lexi Berta hit three 3-pointers and led DCC (11-10)

STATE COLLEGE 63, MCDOWELL 44

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Sheree Wilson and Carley Donnell scored 15 points each to lead State College to a 63-44 win over McDowell.

State College (15-6) led 27-17 at halftime en route to the win.

Amaiya Nelson had a game-high 22 points for McDowell (4-15), while Mikaela Bennett added 11.
