DUBOIS, Pa. – After the dust settled on a busy day of District 9 Class 2A individual tennis, DuBois’ Davan Lion and Punxsutawney’s Chloe Presloid were left standing.
The two will square off on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for the title at DuBois.
Lion, a senior, beat Brockway’s Taylor Rhed (10-2) and Clearfield’s Linsey Kerlin (6-0, 6-0) to reach the championship match.
Presloid, a junior, played one extra match, beating Elk County Catholic’s Lydia Anderson (10-3) before besting St. Marys’ Emma Gavazzi in the quarterfinals (10-6) and Brockway’s Selena Buttery (6-4, 6-1) in the semifinals.
The winner will advance to the PIAA championships on Nov. 5 and 6 in Hershey.
The D9 team championship between Elk County Catholic and Punxsutawney was moved from Wednesday to Thursday at 3 p.m. at Punxsutawney.
