RIDGWAY, Pa. – The St. Marys girls and the Punxsutawney boys won the District 9 Class 2A team cross country titles while St. Marys’ Gabby Pistner and Ridgway’s Eli Schrieber won individual titles.

St. Marys dominated the girls’ race taking the first five places led by Pistern, who ran a time of 18:54.7.
Marry Defilippi was second (20:31.3), Christian Frontz was third (20:37.1), Kelsie Bellott was fourth (20:37.8), and Raechel Braun was fifth (20:44.5).
That helped the Lady Dutch beat second-place Bradford 15-55. The entire Lady Dutch team, which also included Megan Shine and Paige Bauer, qualifies for the state championship being held Nov. 4 in Hershey.
Bradford had three state qualifiers with Punxsutawney earning the additional two state-qualifying spots.
The Lady Owls qualifiers included Caitlyn Taylor (7th place, 21:10, Korie Dixon (9th place, 21:51.3), and Lelia Blines (10th place, 21:58.6).
The two state qualifiers from Punxsutawney were Riley Miller (6th place, 21:02) and Hannah Surkala (8th place, 21:44.2).
In the boys’ race, Punxsutawney used its depth to win the team title despite not having a finisher in the Top 3.
What the Chucks did have was three finishers between fourth and seventh place with Garrett Bartlebaugh taking fourth (17:30.9), David Kunselman taking sixth (17:52.2), and Chris Setree finishing seventh (17:56.9).
Additional scoring members for Punxsutawney included Adin Bish (18;41.6) in 11th and Nolan Lewis (19:14.8) in 16th place. The entire Chuck team, which also included Evan Mohney and Michael Setree, qualify for the PIAA championships.
Friar, meanwhile, won the title by just under nine seconds – 16:50.8 to 16:59.4 – over St. Marys’ Jacob Nedimyer.
Joining Friar and Nedimey in becoming state qualifiers were Brandon Henry of St. Marys (17:13.4), Eli Fox of Clearfield (17;41.7), and Leo Paterniti of Bradford (18:08.2).
