Sept. 17, 2020 Soccer Recaps: Punxsy boys win showdown with Brockway

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Ben Gigliotti’s first-half penalty kick goal proved to be all Punxsutawney needed in a 1-0 win over Brockway. 

COUDERSPORT 3, PORT ALLEGANY 1

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Greg Kellert, Ethan Ross and Jacob Hootfallen all scored to send Coudersport past Port Allegany. 

River Cramer scored for Port Allegany. 

            

Roz Page had four saves for Coudersport and Ty Guilds made 11 stops for Port Allegany.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 2, REDBANK VALLEY 1

STRATTINVILLE, Pa. – Beau Verdill scored a pair of goals to send C-L past Redbank.

One goal was unassisted and the other was off a feed from Bailee Verdill.

FORT LEBOEUF 7, IROQUOIS 1

                          

WATERFORD, Pa. – Fort LeBoeuf’s Mitch Rathburn had a monster game, scoring four goals and adding two assists in a 7-1 win over Iroquois

FAIRVIEW 3, NORTH EAST 1

NORTH EAST, PA. – Nathan George scored a pair of goals to help Fairview past North East.

Zack Scott also added a goal for the Tigers, while Josh Makin scored for North East.

GENERAL MCLANE 4, ERIE 2

EDINBORO, Pa. – R.J. Benedict scored two goals and Zack Rolland and Dominic Shaffer one each to send the Lancers to a win over Erie.

Ahmed Saadoon and Mukhtar Kadhem found the back of the net for the Royals.

GIRLS

REDBANK VALLEY 2, CLARION 0

CLARION, Pa. – Reagen Beamer and Rhianon Laughlin scored to give Redbank Valley a 2-0 win Clarion. 

                        

Beamer’s goal was in the first half and Laughlin in the second half.

CLEARFIELD 7, TYRONE 2

HYDE, Pa. – Tyrone scored first, but Clearfield’s Elle Smith caught fire, notching four tallies and an assist to send the Bison to a 7-2 win.

Smith scored three times in the first half, once off a feed from Lydia Brown and the other on a penalty kick. Amanda Hazel and Riley Ryan also found the back of the net before Smith gave the hosts a 6-2 lead at the break on an Emma Hipps assist.

Hipps capped the scoring early in the second half off a feed from Smith. Ryen and Emily McCracken also added assists.

         

ST. MARYS 7, KANE 2

KANE, Pa. – Sadie Walter scored both Kane goals but it was the Dutch that came away with a 7-2 victory.
