Prep Takes D10 Class 3A Wrestling With Win Over McDowell Powered by Luton’s Plumbing, Heating & A/C

ERIE, Pa. – Cathedral Prep won the final three bouts against McDowell to claim the District 10 Class 3A team title.

                        

Keegan Oler won by pin at 121 for the Ramblers, while McDowell forfeited at 127 and Prep’s Andrew Gammon got a pin at 133 to lift Prep to the title.

McDowell got off to a strong start, as after Prep’s Sam Staab got a decision win at 139, the Trojans won the next three bouts courtesy of a decision wins by Lucas Kurlewch and Artis Simmons at 145 and 152, followed by a pin from Caleb Butterfield at 160.

Prep’s Owen Shetler got a win by major decision at 172 and teammate Clay Mallory got a pin at 189 before McDowell won back-to-back bouts via pin courtesy of Troy Peterson at 215 and Jack Sroka at 285.

Prep’s Aiden Carter won by pin at 107 and McDowell’s Logan Sallot by tech fall at 114, setting the stage for the late dramatics from the Ramblers.

                              

With the win, Prep advances to meet the No. 2 seed from District 1 in the first round of the PIAA championships at the Giant Center in Hershey on Thursday, Feb. 9.
