PIAA Releases Classification Parameters for 2024-25, 2025-2026

   

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The PIAA Tuesday released the classification parameters for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 sports seasons.

There are some changes in top-end numbers in each classification from the 2022-23 and 2023-24 numbers. All numbers are based on students currently in grades 9, 10, and 11 (10, 11, 12 for the first year of the new two-year sports cycle).

In every returning sport but girls’ cheer, it will take more students to gain a higher classification in the upcoming cycle than it did in the previous cycle. But the caveat to that is the PIAA will be counting students differently for the 2024-25/2025-26 cycle than it did for the 2022-23/2023-24 cycle.

In the current cycle, some students including career center students, home-schooled students,  cyber-school students, and charter-school students (when the charter school doesn’t have sports teams) are counted only at 10%. Starting with the 2024-25/2025-26 cycle, those students will count as 100%.

Official school classifications will come out within the next month or so.
