Oct. 13, 2022 Soccer: Slippery Rock Girls Win in OT; Warren, Clearfield, Clarion Among Shutout Winners

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Emma Hays scored the game-winner in overtime as Slippery Rock edged Hickory, 2-1.

Hannah Plunkard also scored for Slippery Rock.

Izzy Hochstetler had Hickory’s goal.

WARREN 3, ERIE 0

ERIE – A trio of second-half goals propelled Warren to a 3-0 win at Erie on Thursday.

            

After a scoreless first half, the Dragons scored three times in the second on goals by Georgie Bickling, Meea Irwin, and Audrey Smith. Bickling, Lauren Andersen, and Ella Ordiway each tallied an assist.

CLEARFIELD 5, BELLEFONTE 0

BELLEFONTE, Pa. – Elle Smith scored three goals and Riley Ryen two as Clearfield blanked Bellefonte, 5-0.

Ryen had two assists, Smith one and Megan Hamm one.

Cayleigh Walker didn’t face a shot on net in goal, while Grace Natol had one save.

                          

MERCER 14, WEST MIDDLESEX 1

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Emma Cameron and Morgan Miller had three goals each as Mercer beat West Middlesex 14-1.

Macy Burns had two goals, while Ally Rynd, Maddy Bailey, Natalie Davis, Aubree Mathieson, Milly Ellis and Maddie Jewell had one goal apiece.

Bailey had three assists, while Cameron and Miller tallied two each and Davis and Rynd one each.

Jewell was in net for the Lady Mustangs.

KARNS CITY 8, PUNXSUTAWNEY 1

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – McKenna Martin scored three goals and Lyrik Reed had two goals and two assists as Karns City beat Punxsutawney, 8-1.

Cece Morrow had one goal and three assists for Karns City, while Hanna Dailey had one goal and one assist, Aubrey Price one goal and Emma Dailey two assists.

BROOKVILLE 1, PORT ALLEGANY 0

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Addison Patton scored the lone goal of the game in the first half as Brookville edged Port Allegany, 1-0.

                        

Kaida Yoder had the assist for the Lady Raiders.

Brielle Budd had 10 saves in net for Port.

CLARION 8, KEYSTONE 0

CLARION, Pa. – Alexis Coull scored three goals as Clarion blanked Keystone 8-0.

Chesney Boggess, Anna Gribik, Alex Leadbetter and Julianna Wilson also had goals for the Lady Cats.

         

Boggess and Mercedes Cunningham combined on the shutout.

MCDOWELL 5, BRADFORD 2

BRADFORD, Pa. – Grace Emanuel and Abby Faulhaber scored two goals each as McDowell earned a 5-2 win over Bradford.

Hannah Shepard also scored for McDowell, while Emanuel had two assists and Olivia Murray and Carmel Frenn had one helper each.

WILMINGTON 6, SHARPSVILLE 0

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Sarah Dieter scored two goals as Wilmington earned a 6-0 win over Sharpsville.

Analiese Hendrickson, Annalee Gardner, Sarah Thomas and Isabella Melnik also scored for Wilmington.

MERCYHURST PREP 4, GIRARD 1

ERIE, Pa. – Marisa Schnars scored a pair of goals as Mercyhurst Prep earned a 4-1 win over Girard.

Milly Pierce and Molly Taylor also scored for the Lakers.

Pierce, Taylor and Naomi Warshaw all had one assist each in the win.

CLARION, Pa. – Scoring early and often, Clarion-Limestone rolled to a 15-0 win over visiting Keystone at Clarion High School.

Bailee Verdill had four goals, including three in the game’s first seven minutes, while adding an assist to lead the Lions.

Danny Schweitzer and Tyler Bingham each added a pair of goals for C-L with both of Bingham’s coming in the second half after he played goalie in the first half.

Also scoring for the Lions were Thomas Uckert, Joe Nasser, Brady Pierce, Isaac Lerch, Quinn O’Neil, Reese Geiger, and Blaise Cunningham.

C-L led 5-0 10 minutes into the contest and 10-0 at halftime.

WARREN 9, OIL CITY 0

WARREN, Pa. – Three players scored two goals each as Warren blanked visiting Oil City, 9-0.

Parks Ordiway, Jack Darling, and Mark Lynds each had a pair of goals in the win. Ordiway had four assists, Darling two assists, and Lynds one.

Chase Sitler, Jack Chapman, and Tristan Shepard each had a goal, and Alex Eaton and John Seyeler each had an assist.

Will Nebinski recorded the shutout, his seventh of the season, in net.

SHARON 5, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 1

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Brian Nguyen and Nick Schimp scored two goals each as Sharon earned a 5-1 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Garrett Hoffman also had a goal for the Tigers.
