Northwestern Gets Another OT Win; ECC, North Clarion, Rocky Grove Claim Tournament Titles

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – For the second time in its three-game trip to Tennessee, Northwestern came out on top in overtime, 64-58 over Cullman (Ala.).

It was also another huge game for Makayla Presser-Palmer, who scored 38 points – 19 in the first half, 17 in the third and fourth quarters – while also knocking down a pair of free throws in overtime.

Northwestern led 41-35 after the third quarter, but Cullman rallied to force overtime, going on a 17-11 run in the fourth quarter to tie it at 52.

                                      

Ally Sharp led Cullman with 28 points.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 44, RIDGWAY 18

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Four Elk County Catholic players combined to score 39 points, as the Lady Crusaders claimed the Elk County Holiday Tournament with a 44-18 win over Ridgway.

Lucy Klawuhn, Sydney Alexander, and Emily Mourer each scored 10 points in the victory, while Tori Newton added nine tallies.

ECC led 25-5 at halftime before outscoring the Lady Elkers 19-13 in the second half.

                          

Jenna Kasmierski paced Ridgway with seven points.

NORTH CLARION 51, KANE 23

KANE, Pa. – Tournament MVP Lily Homan rolled off 23 points to lead North Clarion to another Kane Holiday Tournament title with a 51-23 win over Kane.

Kaylee Castner added nine points for the She-Wolves with Brooke Steinman chipping in six points and 15 rebounds.

Hailey Hillman scored 12 points for Kane.

ROCKY GROVE 29, YOUNGSVILLE 20

ERIE, Pa. – Rae Montgomery scored 19 points as Rocky Grove bested Youngsville, 29-20 for the Iroquois Christmas Tournament title.

Rocky Grove (5-4) went on a 15-4 run in the second quarter to take a 19-9 halftime lead.

Emily Rice added seven points for Rocky Grove in the win.

Riley Robinault led Youngsville (4-5) with eight points and Zaylee Cressley added six.

                                   

JAMESTOWN 41, IROQUOIS 40

ERIE, Pa. – A day after losing to Youngsville 41-40, Jamestown was on the winning end of a 41-40 decision against Iroquois in the consolation game of the Iroquois Christmas Classic.

Jamestown (3-3) led 34-25 after three quarters and withstood a furious Iroquois rally in the fourth quarter.

Alayna Cadman scored 19 points and Ivy Riley scored 14 points for Jamestown, while Makayla Williams added eight.

Karina Reichad had 12 points for Iroquois (0-10), while Grace Abel added nine.

WILMINGTON 66, MOHAWK 59

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Lia Krarup scored 23 points as Wilmington beat Mohawk, 66-59 in the Mohawk Christmas Classic.

Wilmington (6-2) built a 36-23 halftime lead on its way to the win.

Krarup scored 15 of her 23 points in the first half, while Reese Bruckner was also in double figures for Wilmington with 10 points.

Eryynne Capalloo had 18 points for Mohawk, while Devyn Roves and Kiera Julian had 13 points each.

GROVE CITY 49, HOPEWELL 42

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Izzie Gamble scored 29 points to lead Grove City to a 49-42 win over Hopewell in the Laurel Christmas Classic.

Grove City (7-4), which won its fifth game in a row, got 17 points from Gamble in the first half.

Leading 27-25 at halftime, Grove City outscored Hopewell 22-17 in the second half. Maddie Osborn also had 12 points in the win for the Eagles.

Caylee Sundy poured in 21 points for Hopewell.

                                  

FARRELL 38, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 25

FARRELL, Pa. – Damera Thomas and Ja’niya Daniels scored 14 points each as Farrell beat Cambridge Springs, 38-25.

Leading 17-16 at halftime, Farrell (2-5) outscored Cambridge Springs (4-6) 21-9 in the second half.

Thomas scored seven of her 14 points in the third quarter for Farrell.

Sydney Zilhaver led Cambridge Springs with nine points.

RIDGE VIEW (S.C.) 59, WARREN 41

TAMPA, Fla. – Destiny Drakeford led three Ridge View (S.C.) players in double figures with 14 points, as Ridge View beat Warren 59-41 in the Tampa Christmas Classic.

Warren (5-3) is now 1-1 on its trip with one more game to go.

Simone Johnson had 13 points and Anasia 11 for Ridge View (8-6), which led 27-20 at halftime.

Alana Stuart had nine points for Warren, while Meea Irwin added eight and Sammie Ruhlman seven.

PINE-RICHLAND 61, MCDOWELL 56

GIBSONIA, Pa. – Madison Zavasky and Catherine Gentile combined for 47 points as Pine-Richland beat McDowell, 61-56 in the Pine-Richland Christmas Classic.

P-R built a 47-40 lead after three quarters and was able to hold off McDowell (1-7) in the fourth quarter.

Gentile scored 24 points and Zavaksy 23.

Amaiya Nelson and Leah Major had 12 points each for McDowell, while Kasey Netkowicz added nine.

GLEN ROSE (TEXAS) 59, CATHEDRAL PREP 30

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Aimee Flippen scored 23 points to lead Glen Rose (Texas) to a 59-30 win over Cathedral Prep in the championship bracket game of the KSA Tournament.

Addie Biel led Cathedral Prep (6-2) with 10 points.

RANDOLPH (N.Y.) 78, PORT ALLEGANY 37

ALLEGANY, N.Y. – Freshman Skyler Herrington scored a game-high 34 points to lead Randolph (N.Y.) to a 78-37 win over Port Allegany in the Joe DeCerbo Showcase at Allegheny-Limestone.

Herrington, who is already getting Division 1 looks, knocked down 12 shots from the field and scored 20 first-half points for Randolph, who was a New York state runner-up last season but came in at .500 (4-4) this season.

Quinn Pence added 13 points in the win, while Sadie Steward chipped in 10 points.

Kayleigha Dowell led Port Allegany with 15 points and seven rebounds while Ella Moses added 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. Brynn Evens chipped in seven rebounds to go with two points.

GENERAL MCLANE 45, UNION CITY 36

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Libby Opp score 15 of her 20 points in the second half to power General McLane to a 45-36 win over Union City in the Fairview Christmas Classic.

Opp knocked down four 3’s for the Lancers (4-6), while Bella Dibble scored all 11 of her points in the first half as GM built a 22-17 halftime advantage.

Brooke VanTassel led Union City (2-8) with 13 points, nine of which came in the first quarter.

ST. MARYS 64, JOHNSONBURG 25

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Jayssa Snelick netted a game-high 28 points to lead St. Marys to a 64-25 win over Johnsonburg in the consolation game of the Elk County Holiday Tournament.

Maura Caskey added 13 points for the Lady Dutch, while Alexa Schneider chipped in 12 points and Molly Hansolvan eight.

Cadence Brechtel and Zoey Grunthaner each scored six points for Johnsonburg.

SHARPSVILLE 61, UNION/A-C VALLEY 24

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Lily Palko had 20 points and four steals as Sharpsville beat Union/A-C Valley 61-24 in the Greenville Christmas Classic.

Palko scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half as the Blue Devils (3-6) built a 41-12 halftime advantage.

Macie Steiner added 11 of her 13 points in the first half for Sharpsville, while Clarissa Ealy added nine points in the win.

Maddy Dehart led Union/A-C Valley (1-7) with 10 points, while Kya Wetzel added eight.

BRADFORD 53, KEYSTONE 30

KANE, Pa. – Freshman Hailey Keane scored a career-high 24 points to lead Bradford to a 53-30 win over Keystone in the consolation game of the Kane Holiday Tournament.

Kalie Dixon added 18 points for the Lady Wolves, who led 24-10 at halftime behind 12 points from Keane and eight from Dixon.

Ava Patrick scored 10 points for Keystone with Ashlee Albright adding nine.

GREENVILLE 35, COCHRANTON 31

GREENVILLE, Pa. – With the game tied at 15 at halftime, Greenville went on a 9-4 run in the third quarter on its way to a 35-31 win over Cochranton in the Greenville Christmas Classic.

Preslie Kirila had four of her 12 points in the third quarter for Greenville (6-4), while Lexi Busch had eight points and Lily Chapman seven.

Claire McCartney led Cochranton (5-5) with 11 points, while Marley Rodax added eight.

Greenville’s Chapman and Josie Hart, as well as Cochranton’s McCartney and Macie Williams, were named to the all-tournament team.

MONITEAU 66, SEWICKLEY ACADEMY 24

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Catherine Kelly scored 25 of her career-high 30 points in the first half to lift Moniteau to a 66-24 win over Sewickley Academy on the second day of the Moniteau Holiday Tournament.

Kendall Sankey had a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double for the Lady Warriors and also added four steals, while Abbey Jewart handed out seven assists to go with eight points.

Emma Eannarino led Sewickley Academy with 17 points.

FAIRVIEW 53, SENECA 37

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Paige Garrity and Bre Heidt combined for 41 points as Fairview topped Seneca 53-37.

Garrity knocked down three triples in the second quarter and finished with five for the game on her way to 22 points for the Tigers (6-2).

Heidt had eight points in the third quarter and finished with 19 for the game.

Haylee Farrell had 15 points to pace Seneca (6-3).

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 56, CURWENSVILLE 32

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Host Philipsburg-Osceola got 22 points from Lily Warlow on its way to a 56-32 win over Curwensville in the opening round of the Taylor Harpster Memorial Tournament.

Khendyl Sharrer added 12 points for the Mounties.

Addison Warren led Curwensville with nine points with Natalie Wischuck adding eight.

HAZELTON 75, PUNXSUTAWNEY 52

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Using a 27-point first quarter, Hazelton rolled to a 75-52 win over Punxsutawney in the championship game of the Carl Truance Classic at Punxsutawney.

The Lady Cougars led 27-12 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, as five different players reached double digits.

Sophia Shults led Hazelton with 17 points, Olivia Williams chipped in 15 points while hitting four 3-pointers, freshman Sophia Benyo added 12 tallies, fellow freshman Kaitlyn Bindas contributed 11 points, and Alexis Reimold scored 10.

Also for the Lady Cougars, Kayla Lagowy scored eight points.

Danielle Griebel led Punxsutawney with 16 points, four assists, and four rebounds, while Avary Powell added 11 points and six boards.

MARION CENTER 55, REDBANK VALLEY 37

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Lydia Miller scored a game-high 18 points to pace Marion Center to a 55-37 win over Redbank Valley in the consolation game of the Carl Truance Classic at Punxsutawney.

Mya Lipsie added nine points, Natalie Black chipped in with eight points, and Mollie Shadle and Macie Miller each had seven tallies for the Stingers.

Redbank Valley, which has lost back-to-back games for the first time since dropping three in a row from Feb. 5, 2020, through Feb. 15, 2020, got 17 points from Mylee Harmon. Addy Bond contributed 11 tallies for the Lady Bulldogs.

REYNOLDS 32, COMMODORE PERRY 25

HADLEY, Pa. – Hannah Reckhart and Ava Murcko scored 10 points each to lead Reynolds to a 32-25 win over Commodore Perry.

Savannah Johnson added five points for Reynolds (2-6).

Skyleighh McCloskey had eight points for Commodore Perry (0-7).

MERCYHURST PREP 61, SENECA VALLEY 37

BALTIMORE – Olivia Kulyk erupted for 30 points as Mercyhurst Prep earned a 61-37 win over Seneca Valley in the opening round of the Baltimore 695 Tournament.

Mari Nixon was also in double figures for the Lakers (7-1) with 12 points.

Allison Sevin had 12 points to pace Seneca Valley.

FORT LEBOEUF 34, CORRY 29

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Haylee Will scored 11 points as Fort LeBoeuf held off Corry, 34-29.

Jillian Soder added eight points for Fort LeBoeuf.

Halee Albers led Corry (4-5) with eight points.

NORTH EAST 49, PORTERSVILLE CHRISTIAN 46

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Alex Cozzens connected for 19 points as North East topped Portersville Christian, 49-46.

Alaina Rodemoyer was also in double figures for North East (5-4) with 11 points, as the Grape Pickers went on a 13-6 run in the third quarter to break open a two-point lead at halftime.

BRASHEAR 55, MEADVILLE 26

FARRELL, Pa. – Arianna Sherrill scored 24 points as Brahear netted a 55-26 win over Meadville.

Ra’Nyah Morris was also in double figures for Brashear with 13 points.

Megan Paleio led Meadville (0-6) with 12 points.
