New Champion to be Crowned in D10 Class 2A Team Duals Powered by Luton’s Plumbing, Heating, AC

SHARON, Pa. – There will be a new District 10 Class 2A wrestling champion this season.

That was assured when Hickory was bumped up from Class 2A. The Hornets won the 2A title in 2022, and in the process, Reynolds was denied a tenth consecutive title and was also unable to defend the state title they won in 2021.

The Raiders are back, however, owning the top seed. They were knocked off by Saegertown last season, but the Panthers won’t be a part of the weekend’s festivities at Sharon High School after they lost to Grove City 50-21 in the first round on Wednesday.

Other first-round results included No. 5 Corry knocking off No. 12 Northwestern 56-12, No. 10 Sharpsville edging No. 7 Titusville 31-29, and No. 6 General McLane powering past No. 11 North East, 51-17.

Action gets underway with the Reynolds-Grove City and Commodore Perry quarterfinal matches at 9 a.m., followed by the Fort LeBoeuf-Sharpsvilel and Greenville-General McLane quarterfinals at 11 a.m.

The semifinals will be at 3 p.m. and the finals at 5 p.m.

The top two teams advance to the state tournament, with the winner advancing to the first round of the state championships on Thursday, Feb. 9 to face the winner of a preliminary round match between the District 1 and District 12 champions at the Giant Center in Hershey.

The runner-up will have a preliminary round match on Monday, Feb. 6, against the fourth-place team from the WPIAL, with the winner to meet the District 4 champion on Thursday.
