Kennedy Catholic Wins 14th Straight D10 Championship, Tops Maplewood in 2A Title Game

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Nice and easy does it for Kennedy Catholic.

The defending PIAA champions captured their 14th consecutive District 10 championship, knocking off Maplewood 60-25 in the Class 2A title game.

Kennedy Catholic raced out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter on its way to the win.

Four Kennedy Catholic players were in double figures scoring. Layke Fields scored all 15 of her points in the first half, while Tori Harvey had 14 points and Bella Magestro and Monique Vincent had 12 points each.

Magestro had a double-double, dishing out ten assists.

                                      

Madison O’Hara had 12 points and Maggie Means six for Maplewood.

Kennedy Catholic will host the No. 7 team from the WPIAL, Fort Cherry in the first round of the PIAA tournament on Friday, March 8.

Maplewood will also host a first-round state game against WPIAL No. 4 South Side, also on Friday.
