Karns City’s Beighley Joins 1,000-Point Club in Gremlins Win over Brookville

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Hitting a free throw with 1 second left in the third quarter, Taite Beighley joined older brother, Chase, in the 1,000-point club at Karns City.

Beighley needed 15 points coming into the game and was sitting at 13 when he was fouled driving to the hoop with one second left in the quarter.

He calmly sank the first and then hit the second to reach the mark pumping his fists in celebration.

Beighley had seven points at halftime helping the Gremlins (13-6) to a 31-27 halftime lead.

He then scored eight points in the third quarter helping Karns City outscore Brookville (9-9) 20-14 in the third quarter to push the lead to 51-41 going to the fourth quarter.

Beighley finished the night with 18 points giving him 1,003 in his career. He is the 14th Karns City boys’ player to hit 1,000 points and by joining his brother, who is the all-time leading scorer for the Gremlins with 1,697 career points in a career that ended in 2021, they become the first brother duo at the school to score 1,000 points each.

Beighley played another all-around game with seven assists and five rebounds.

Shane Peters also scored 18 points for the Gremlins, including 16 in the second half helping Karns City outscore Brookville 44-23 in the half. He finished off a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Cole Johnston and Hobie Bartoe each added 12 points and Jacob Callihan had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Jack Pete paced Brookville with 21 points while Kellan Haines added 15 points.

NOTES – Only A-C Valley in District 9, with 15, has more 1,000-point boys’ scorers than Karns City. Clarion-Limestone and Venango Catholic also both have 14.
