Jan. 3, 2022 D10 Girls’ Hoops: Cambridge Springs Topples Seneca; McDowell Edges Harbor Creek

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Makenzie Yanc led a balanced effort with 13 points as Cambridge Springs powered past Seneca, 44-20.

Maddie Yanc added 12 points and Hailee Rodgers 11 for Cambridge Springs, which built a 12-point halftime lead en route to the win.

Meghan Konkol led Seneca with eight points.

SLIPPERY ROCK 31, FRANKLIN 25

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Gianna Bedel scored 10 points as Slippery Rock outlasted Franklin, 31-26.

                                      

The game was a defensive battle throughout, as Slippery Rock led 6-0 after the first quarter and 13-8 at halftime.

Bronwyn McCoy added nine points for Slippery Rock.

Camdon Bashor had 14 points for Franklin.

CONNEAUT (Pa.) 55, TITUSVILLE 9

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Conneaut built a 30-point halftime lead en route to a 55-9 win over Titusville.

                          

Jaelyn Blood had 13 points and five steals for the Eagles, while Jacqueline Detelich had 11 points and Rylee Jones 10 points, seven steals, and three assists.

Jocelyn Denihan had four steals and three assists for Conneaut, while Sami Egli had five steals and three assists and Hannah Brady six rebounds and three assists.

Abby Cole had four points for Titusville.

MCDOWELL 39, HARBOR CREEK 32

ERIE, Pa. – McDowell built an 11-point halftime lead to earn a 39-32 Region 6 win over Harbor Creek.

Ella Gebhardt had 15 points for McDowell, while Caylen Spano netted 10.

Rylee Kapsar netted 10 points for Harbor Creek.

VILLA MARIA 66, GENERAL MCLANE 26

ERIE, Pa. – Villa Maria led 33-6 at halftime on its way to a 66-26 win over General McLane in their Region 6 opener.

Carissa Dunham once again led the Victors with 16 points, while Addie Biel netted 12 and Daniela Shaughnessy nine.

                                   

Louisa Opp had 12 points for GM.

UNION CITY 61, YOUNGSVILLE 11

UNION CITY, Pa. – Union City outscored Youngsville 33-0 in the first quarter en route to a 61-11 win in Region 2 action.

Ten different players scored for Union City, led by Jessica Messenger with 15. Sophia Messenger had 11 points and Abby Tingley and Cathryn Reynolds eight each.

Kenzie Olewine had six points to pace Youngsville.

HICKORY 35, MEADVILLE 18

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Mariah Swanson scored 11 points as Hickory earned a 35-18 win over Meadville.

Emily Duncan added 10 points for Hickory, which led by eight at halftime and outscored Meadville 9-0 in the fourth quarter.

Reese Burnett had 10 points for Meadville.

REYNOLDS 68, COMMODORE PERRY 15

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Reynolds led 43-9 at halftime on its way to a 68-15 Region 1 win over Commodore Perry.

Hallee Murcko and Lawrynn Harrold both had monster games for the Raiders with 25 points apiece.

Hailey Boozer had 11 points for Commodore Perry.

FORT LEBOEUF 47, GIRARD 37

GIRARD, Pa. – Jillian Soder scored 13 points as Fort LeBoeuf topped Girard, 47-37.

                                  

Alee Young had 12 points for the Bison, who led by nine after three quarters.

Kayla Sharman had 16 points for Girard.
