Harbor Creek Outlasts GM in OT; Prep Rallies Past McDowell; Big First Half Sends Port Allegany to Win Over Kane

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – JT DelSandro scored 33 points as Harbor Creek outlasted General McLane in overtime, 77-74.

The game was tied at 34-all at halftime, with GM (8-6 overall, 1-5 Region 7) going on a 20-11 run in the third quarter to take a 54-45 lead.

The Huskies (8-8, 2-4) responded with a 22-13 spurt in the fourth quarter to make it 67-all and force overtime.

In the fourth quarter, DelSandro knocked down a pair of key 3’s and Braylen Wilson had six points.

It was Tucker Chwatek that was the difference in overtime for Harbor Creek, as he scored seven of his 17 points, with the Huskies outscoring the Lancers 10-7.

Wilson had 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Also for GM, Greysen Rhodes finished with 18 points, while Jacob Zietz had 13 and Isaac Zietz 12.

CATHEDRAL PREP 64, MCDOWELL 60

ERIE, Pa. – Using a 19-13 run in the fourth quarter, the resurgent Cathedral Prep Ramblers rallied for a 64-60 win over rival McDowell.

                          

The Ramblers trailed 47-43 going in the fourth, but Nando Mirarchi scored eight of his game-high 23 points to help lead the Prep (8-8 overall, 5-1 Region 7) comeback.

The Ramblers have now won five-straight since starting the season 3-8. Only three of those losses have come to District 10 foes (Warren, Erie, Franklin).

Mirarchi was also 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Amaree Pickens had 16 points and Michael Thompson 13 for Prep.

Tyler Grove scored a team-high 18 points for McDowell (10-2, 5-1) and also pulled down eight rebounds.

Stephon Porter added 14 points and Quentin Orlando 13 for the Trojans.

PORT ALLEGANY 55, KANE 47

KANE, Pa. – Using a 24-point first quarter and a 40-point first half, Port Allegany beat homestanding Kane, 55-47.

The Gators (8-7) raced out to a 24-11 lead at the end of eight minutes thanks to 11 points from Jarrod Funk, who drained three 3-pointers in the quarter.

Port Allegany’s lead grew to 20, 40-20, by halftime before Kane started to whittle its way back into the game.

                                   

The Wolves (6-9) cut the deficit to 11, 45-34, going to the fourth quarter but couldn’t quite finish the comeback.

Funk led Port Allegany with 15 points with Braylon Button adding 14 tallies, Isac Amell chipping in 11 points, and Jake Causer contributing nine points.

Dane Anderson had a game-high 24 points for Kane, including nine in the fourth quarter and 15 in the second half.

Sam Lundeen added 11 tallies for the Wolves.

SLIPPERY ROCK 57, HICKORY 52

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Trailing 39-38 going going into the fourth quarter, Slippery Rock outscored Hickory 19-13 in the fourth quarter to pick up a key Region 5 victory, 57-52.

Josh Book was at his best in the fourth quarter for Slippery Rock (10-5 overall, 2-1 Region 5), scoring 12 of his game-high 26 points over the final eight minutes to help the Rockets to the win, going 4-of-7 from three-point range in the process.

Anderson Franco also had a bucket in the fourth quarter for the Rockets and finished with 11 points to go along with four assists.

Max Kovacik added nine points for Slippery Rock.

Rylan Dye led Hickory (9-5, 1-2) with 16 points, while Trevor Borowic added 10 points to go along with four rebounds. Ryan Robich added five points, five rebounds and two assists for Hickory, while Braden Bittler had seven points and three boards.

GROVE CITY 76, GREENVILLE 38

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City continued its hot streak with a 76-38 Region 5 win over Greenville.

The Eagles (8-7 overall, 3-0 Region 5), winners of five straight, jumped out to a 26-9 lead after the first quarter on their way to the win.

Seven different players scored in the first quarter for Grove City, including Nathan Greer, who finished with a game-high 20 points.

Greer was one of three Grove City players in double figures, with Brett Loughry scoring 15 and Gavin Lutz 11. Eleven different players scored for the Eagles.

                                  

Noah Philson had 19 points for Greenville (8-7, 1-2).

GIRARD 77, IROQUOIS 42

ERIE, Pa. – Kenny Godoy led four Girard players in double figures with 20 points in a 77-42 win over Iroquois.

The Yellow Jackets (14-1 overall, 7-0 Region 4) led 45-26 at halftime on their way to the win.

Nate Edwards finished with 18 points for Girard, while Ryan Carr had 17 and Ryan Pratt 12.

Jarion Lucas and Devin Brink had 11 points each for Iroquois (9-6, 5-2), while Kellen Burroughs added 11.

FARRELL 68, ROCKY GROVE 34

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – A huge second half lifted Farrell to a 68-34 Region 1 win over Rocky Grove.

Leading 27-22 at halftime, the Steelers (11-4 overall, 3-0 Region 1) outscored the Orioles (9-6, 1-1) 41-12 in the second half.

Danny Odem led Farrell with 17 points and also dished out seven assists, one of three Farrell players in double figures scoring.

JuJu Phillips and Dontaye Bell added 10 points and three rebounds each, while Juelz Johnson had seven points and 11 rebounds.

Landen Carter led Rocky Grove with 10 points.

SHARPSVILLE 59, WEST MIDDLESEX 53

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Luke Staunch had 21 points and 11 rebounds to help Sharpsville to a 59-53 win over West Middlesex.

Carter DeJulia added 14 points and five assists for Sharpsville (5-12, overall, 2-1 Region 2), which led 45-42 after the third quarter.

Dalton Byerly was also in double figures for the Blue Devils with 12 points.

Nolan Goulb had 16 points and John Partridge 12 to lead the Big Reds (4-12 1-1).

JUNIATA VALLEY 86, CURWENSVILLE 75

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Curwensville couldn’t sustain a quick start and dropped an 86-75 home ICC North decision to Juniata Valley.

The Golden Tide (8-5 overall, 2-4 ICC North) jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter on the strength of nine Davis Fleming points.

But Juniata Valley (11-4, 4-2) roared back and took a 37-33 halftime lead with Carlie Mattas scoring half of the Hornets’ 24 points in the quarter.

The lead grew to six, 61-55, going to the fourth quarter, and Connor Robinson scored 10 points in the final eight minutes to help Juniata Valley hold on for the victory.

Mattas led the Hornets with 26 points with Robinson adding 21 and Chris Deihl 22. Jett Rand also had 10 tallies in the victory.

Fleming, District 9’s leading scorer had a game-high 32 points for Curwensville with Parker Wood adding 19 and Braden Holland 14.

SHARON 97, WILMINGTON 24

SHAROn, Pa. – Sharon bounced back from its first loss of the season by beating Wilmington 97-24 in Region 5 action.

Javon Brodie led Sharon (13-1 overall, 2-1 Region 5) with 20 points as the Tigers built a 55-9 halftime advantage.

Derek Douglas netted 13 points for the Tigers, while Tino Piccirilli had 12 and Owen Schenker 11.

Will Bruckner had 14 points for Wilmington (0-15, 0-3).

MERCYHURST PREP 61, FAIRVIEW 48

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Maddox Brzuz and Tanner Ashton scored 14 points apiece to lead Mercyhurst Prep to a 61-48 win over Fairview.

Archie Murphey led the Tigers with 12 points.

ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 55, NORTHWESTERN 48

ALBION, Pa. – Avery Collins poured in 22 points to lead Erie First Christian to a 55-48 win over Northwestern.

Sam Gonzalez was also in double figures for EFC with 14 points.

Jack Miller led Northwestern with 12 points.
