General McLane, West Middlesex, Grove City Pick Up Close Wins; Balanced Scoring Leads Cranberry Past Forest Area

EDINBORO, Pa. – Bella Dibble scored 14 points and Libby Opp 12 to help General McLane to a 44-38 Region 6 win over McDowell.

GM (7-7 overall, 2-2 Region 6) led 27-21 at halftime on its way to the win.

Kiley Leasure had eight points in the win for the Lancers.

Francessa Russo led McDowell, which was playing without with a game-high 18 points, 14 of which came in the first half, while Samantha Clemente added seven points.

                                      

WEST MIDDLESEX 40, LAKEVIEW 36

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Caitlin Stephens scored 14 points and Emma Mild 13 to lead West Middlesex to a 40-36 win over Lakeview.

The game was tight throughout, with Middlesex (10-1 overall, 5-1 Region 1) leading 11-4 after the first quarter, 15-11 at halftime and 26-23 after three quarters.

Stephens had nine rebounds and Mild five.

The Big Reds were 17-of-33 from the charity stripe.

                          

Kyndra Seddon had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeview (5-7, 3-2), while Emma Marsteller had 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Sailors were 9-of-11 from the free throw line.

CRANBERRY 43, FOREST AREA 36

SENECA, Pa. – Getting balanced scoring from eight different players, Cranberry survived blowing a nine-point halftime lead to beat visiting Forest Area, 43-36, in KSAC action.

The Berries (3-10 overall, 1-4 KSAC) led 22-13 at halftime but trailed 28-27 going to the fourth quarter after being outscored 15-5 in the third quarter.

But six points from Avery Coe and three each from Sarah Schoch and Raegan Antrilli helped the Berries battle back for the win.

Coe had a team-high eight points for Cranberry with Antrilli and Haylie Gregory each adding seven points.

Amber Guzzi had a season-high 20 points to earn game-high honors for Forest Area (6-6, 1-3) while Kaylie Rooke added nine points, eight rebounds, and eight blocked shots.

GROVE CITY 54, HICKORY 49

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Piper Como scored 19 of her game-high 22 points in the second half to lead Grove City to its eighth consecutive win, 54-49 over Hickory.

                                   

The game was tight throughout, with Grove City (10-4 overall, 5-0 Region 4) leading 7-6 after the first quarter, 24-21 at halftime and 38-32 after three quarters.

Izzie Gamble scored 15 points and was 7-of-9 from the charity stripe for the Eagles.

Maddie Osborn added nine points in the win for Grove City.

Lauren Harkless led three Hickory (4-9, 3-2) players in double figures with 17 points, while Kimora Roberts had 16 and Mariah Swanson 10.

RIDGWAY 73, BROCKWAY 44

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Career nights from both Kristen Ellenberger and Gabby Amacher helped Ridgway to a 73-44 home AML win over Brockway.

Ellenberger scored all but three of her career-high 24 points in the middle two quarters netting 11 second-quarter points and 10 third-quarter tallies on her way to her first career 20-point game. She added six steals.

Amacher, meanwhile, knocked down five 3-pointers on her way to a 17-point night, one better than her previous career-best. She also handed out five helpers.

Not to be outdone, Jenna Kasmierski had a double-double for the Lady Elkers (8-2 overall, 1-1 AML) with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophia Morrison had her first career 20-point output for Brockway (4-8, 0-4) with 23 points. She scored all of her points in the first three quarters. Sophia Schmader added eight tallies for the Lady Rovers.

WARREN 40, FRANKLIN 26

WARREN, Pa. – Warren jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and led throughout in a 40-26 Region 5 win over Franklin.

Leading 16-11 at halftime, Warren (7-4, 1-0) went on a 14-7 run in the third quarter to take a 30-18 lead.

Meea Irwin got the Lady Dragons off to a hot start, scoring eight of her team-high 17 points in the first quarter.

Halle Kuzminski scored eight points for Warren and Peyton Wotorson seven.

                                  

Jamie Blum had seven points for Franklin (6-5, 0-1), while Kiersten Hicks added six.

KARNS CITY 42, CLARION 26

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Up seven at halftime, Karns City outpaced visiting Clarion 25-16 in the second half including 15-6 in the third quarter to pick up a 42-26 KSAC victory.

The Lady Gremlins (9-4 overall, 5-1 KSAC), who stayed a game back in the loss column of both Redbank Valley and North Clarion for first place in the league, led 17-10 at the break before getting five points from Naomi Vanesky to pace the 15-point third quarter.

Venesky led Karns City with 16 points with Savanna Prescott adding nine tallies and Chloe Fritch eight.

Clarion (5-6, 2-2) got seven Taylor Alston points and six from Sophie Babington.

NORTH EAST 36, SENECA 31

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Alex Cozzens scored 12 points as North East edged Seneca, 36-31.

The game was close throughout, with North East (8-4 overall, 4-1 Region 3) leading 18-15 at halftime and 23-20 after three quarters.

Gigi Gaston added seven points in the win for North East.

Baylee Dernar had nine points for Seneca (7-4, 2-2) and Mallory Hammill eight.

NORTH CLARION 52, KEYSTONE 18

KNOX, Pa. – Brooke Steinamn and Lily Homan combined to score 20 second-quarter points, as North Clarion used a 24-2 advantage in that quarter to roll past homestanding Keystone, 52-18, in KSAC action.

The She-Wolves (10-2 overall, 4-0 KSAC) led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter before taking a 38-12 halftime lead.

Homan had a game-high 22 points to go with eight steals for North Clarion with Steinman adding 15 points. Steinman completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Kyler Freeman also chipped in four points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.

Emma Gruber led Keystone (5-9, 2-4) with six points.

FAIRVIEW 31, ERIE 18

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview allowed just six points in the first half in a 31-18 win over Erie.

Fairview (8-4 overall, 3-2 Region 6) led 10-6 at halftime and outscored Erie 11-3 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Paige Garrity had 13 points to lead Fairview, while Bre Heidt added nine.

Draya Nevins had nine points for Erie (8-4, 3-2).

MAPLEWOOD 42, SAEGERTOWN 30

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Maplewood went on a 13-0 run in the second quarter on the way to its ninth-straight win, 42-30 over Saegertown.

The run allowed the Tigers (11-2 overall, 5-0 Region 2) to take a 19-8 halftime lead.

Five different players scored in the second quarter for Maplewood.

Savannah O’Hara led the Tigers with a game-high 18 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter to help them put the game away. Rhaelyn Koelle had eight points and Maggie Means and Madyson Banik six each.

Layilah Drakes led Saegertown (5-8, 2-3) with 11 points.

COCHRANTON 44, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 31

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cochranton built a 27-15 halftime lead en route to a 44-31 Region 2 win over Cambridge Springs.

Claire McCartney scored seven of her 11 points in the first half for Cochranton (7-6 overall, 4-0 Region 2), while Eve Pfeiffer had 10 of her team-high 12 points in the second half.

Marley Rodax added nine points for the Cardinals.

Sydney Zilhaver scored a game-high 13 points for Cambridge Springs (6-8, 2-2), while Lily Schultz scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter.

SHARPSVILLE 62, SLIPPERY ROCK 32

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Lily Palko scored 26 points and was 7-of-12 from 3-point range in Sharpsville’s 62-32 Region 4 win over Slippery Rock.

Brooklyn Ramsey netted 13 points for the Blue Devils (5-7 overall, 2-2 Region 4), while Macie Steiner had 11 points and four steals.

Sharpsville jumped out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter on its way to the win.

Madison Romanovich had 15 points for Slippery Rock (4-8, 1-3).

EISENHOWER 60, IROQUOIS 20

ERIE, Pa. – Clara Steinberg, Lainey Font and Laney Belcher combined for 58 of Eisenhower’s 60 points in a 60-20 win over Iroquois.

Steinberg scored 23 points for the Knights (6-5 overall, 2-3 Region 3), while Font had 22 and Belcher 13.

The trio combined to make 11 3s, with Font knocking down five and Steinberg and Belcher three each.

Karina Reichard had 11 points for Iroquois (0-12, 0-4).

WILMINGTON 75, SHARON 28

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Lia Krarup scored 22 points to power Wilmington to a 75-28 win over Sharon.

Wilmington (9-3 overall, 3-1 Region 4) scored 50 points in the first half, leading 50-15 on its way to the win.

Sarah Dieter tallied nine points for Wilmington, while Karah Deal, Avery Harlan, Reese Bruckner and Alyssa Flick all scored eight points each.

Lacey Root and Taylor Holden had 10 points each for Sharon (5-5, 1-4).

CONNEAUT 52, MEADVILLE 5

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Lainie Harrington scored 15 points as Conneaut beat Meadville, 52-5.

Hannah Brady was also in double figures for CASH (7-3 overall, 1-0 Region 5) with 10 points, while Lilly Detelich and Morgan Poff netted eight each.

Poff also had 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists, while BreAnne Dendis had seven rebounds and Kaitlyn Crabb six rebounds and two steals.

Kiki Congawone had three points for Meadville (0-8, 0-1).

UNION CITY 68, YOUNGSVILLE 15

UNION CITY, Pa. – Twelve different players scored for Union City in a 68-15 Region 2 win over Youngsville.

Cathryn Reynolds led the way for UC (4-9, 2-2) with 14 points, while Ellie Hunter and Kayla Magel had nine points each and Brooke VanTassel eight.

Molly Helman had five points for Youngsville (4-8, 0-4).

FARRELL 51, JAMESTOWN 15

FARRELL, Pa. – Damerra Thomas led three Farrell players in double figures with 16 points in a 51-15 Region 1 win over Jamestown.

Ja’niya Daniels netted 14 points for the Steelers (4-7 overall, 2-3 Region 1), while Maddy Harrison added 10.

Alayna Cadman had nine points for Jamestown (3-5, 1-3).

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 83, COMMODORE PERRY 3

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Layke Fields had 24 points and 11 rebounds as Kennedy Catholic beat Commodore Perry 83-3.

Bella Magestro also had a big game for Kennedy Catholic (7-2 overall, 4-0 Region 1) with 18 points and 10 assists.

Madison Fleger added nine points and Tori Harvey eight for the Golden Eagles.

Jazlyn Boyles had all three points for the Panthers.

MERCER 46, REYNOLDS 16

MERCER, Pa. – Anna Allen scored 11 points as Mercer beat Reynolds, 46-16.

Karleigh Heckathorn added nine points for Mercer (8-3 overall, 4-1 Region 1).

Raya Hernandez had six points for Reynolds (2-10, 1-4).

MERCYHURST PREP 58, TITUSVILLE 15

ERIE, Pa. – Aubrey Easterling and Olivia Kulyk scored 15 points each as Mercyhurst Prep beat Titusville, 58-15.

Seana Thrower added 10 points for Mercyhurst Prep (10-2 overall, 5-0 Region 3).

Molly Covell had six points for Titusville (1-10, 1-4).

UNION (NEW CASTLE) 41, HARBOR CREEK 29

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Kylie Fruehstorfer had 16 points as Union (New Castle) beat Harbor Creek, 41-29.

Union led 30-28 after three quarters, outscoring Harbor Creek (8-5) 11-1 in the fourth quarter.

Talon King had 13 points for Harbor Creek.

CATHEDRAL PREP 75, FORT LEBOEUF 22

WATEFORD, Pa. – Addie Biel led four Cathedral Prep players in double figures with 17 points in a 75-22 Region 6 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Jayden McBride added 16 points, while Ava Lucarotti 13 and Lena Walz 12 for the Ramblers (8-2 Region 6, 4-0 overall).

CORRY 48, OIL CITY 32

CORRY, Pa. – Leading 20-13 at halftime, Corry outscored Oil City 28-19 in the second half to pull away for a 48-32 win.

Grace Allen poured in 17 points for Corry (6-5 overall, 1-0 Region 5), while Haley Mumau added eight.

Payton Liederbach had 18 points for Oil City (6-6, 0-1).
