Big Fourth Quarter Helps Erie Hand Warren First Loss; Otto-Eldred Keeps Rolling; Patrick Leads Clearfield to Victory

ERIE, Pa. – Erie outscored Warren 17-9 in the fourth quarter to hand the Dragons their first loss of the season, 53-44.

Erie led by one, 36-35 going to the fourth, with six different players scoring in the final eight minutes. Jamarious Johnson and Layveon Gore had four points each in the fourth.

Johnson led the way for the Royals (7-3) with a game-high 18 points, 12 of which game in the first half.

Both teams struggled from the free throw line, with Erie going 6-of-16 and Warren 3-of-8.

                                      

Gore and Anthony Blanks added eight points each for Erie.

Warren trailed 27-20 at halftime, but went on a 15-9 run to get back within one going into the fourth.

Braylon Barnes scored five of his team-high 14 points in the third for the Dragons (10-1).

Konnor Hoffman and Brady Berdine were also in double figures for Warren with 11 points each.

OTTO-ELDRED 65, COUDERSPORT 31

                          

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Shene Thomas scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter as Otto-Eldred rolled past Coudersport, 65-31 to improve to 11-0.

Otto-Eldred (11-0 overall, 7-0 North Tier League) led 27-5 after the first quarter en route to the win, with Thomas garnering Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game honors.

“We were just passing the ball around and being unselfish,” Thomas said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview. “That’s the way we play and it makes it easy to get buckets.”

Manning Splain matched Thomas with 21 points, 18 of which came in the first half.

Landon Francis scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half for the Terrors.

Mason Roessner had eight points to lead Coudersport (5-6, 5-3), while Drew VanWhy, Micah Batson and Dylan Howard had six each.

                                   

CLEARFIELD 49, BELLWOOD-ANTIS 46

BELLWOOD, Pa. – Braison Patrick hit 4 of 4 free throws in the fourth quarter and scored six of his career-high 29 points in the quarter to help Clearfield hold on for a 49-46 road win over Bellwood-Antis in LHAC East action.

Patrick had a monster first quarter with 13 points to help the Bison (3-9 overall, 2-6 LHAC East), winners of two in a row, to a 17-9 lead at the end of the opening eight minutes.

That lead grew to nine, 28-19, by halftime, but Bellwood-Antis (2-9, 1-6) got within four, 37-33, going to the fourth quarter thanks to five third-quarter points apiece from Chance Schreier and Anthony Caracciolo.

Anthony Lopez added 10 points and eight rebounds for Clearfield.

Schreier led Bellwood-Antis with 14 points with Caracciolo adding nine.

For Clearfield’s Patrick, just a sophomore, it was his third straight 20-point game and his fourth in the past five outings. In his last three contests, he is averaging 26.7 ppg and in his last five he is scoring 21.6 ppg. On the season, the Bison leading scorer is averaging 19.0 ppg.

NORTHERN POTTER 55, GALETON 37

ULYSSES, Pa. – Up three at halftime, Northern Potter got seven points from Ethan Fuhrer during a 19-5 third-quarter run on its way to a 55-37 NTL win over visiting Galeton.

The Panthers (5-7 overall, 4-4 NTL) led 28-25 at halftime but expanded that lead to 47-30 going to the fourth quarter.

Eight different NoPo players scored led by 11 points from Furher. Ty Daniels added 10 tallies, while Nolen Smith had nine points. Malachi Lewis came up a bucket shy of a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds. Kameron Martin also grabbed eight boards in the win while scoring two points.

Corey Anderson led Galeton (4-7, 3-4) with nine points with Zach Pagano adding eight and Braiden Cimino seven.

CURWENSVILLE 74, MOSHANNON VALLEY 53

HOUTZDALE, Pa. – Davis Fleming and Parker Wood combined for 43 points, as visiting Curwensville rolled past Moshannon Valley, 74-53, in ICC North action.

Fleming led the Golden Tide (8-4 overall, 2-3 ICC North) with 23 points with Wood adding 20 points. Hunter Tkacik also scored nine points for Curwensville.

                                  

Troy Canner and Micah Beish each scored 12 points for Moshannon Valley (0-9, 0-5) while Jensen Hansel chipped in 10 points.

CAMERON COUNTY 74, OSWAYO VALLEY 25

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Led by 19 points from Josh Smith, Cameron County had three players score in double digits in a 74-25 road win over Oswayo Valley in NTL action.

Ryan Shaffer and Josh Beer each added 14 points for the Red Raiders (10-2 overall, 6-1 NTL) while Landon Farren chipped in eight tallies and Isaac Grovanz contributed seven tallies.

Conner Resig and Brayden Wiley each scored seven points for Oswayo Valley (1-8, 1-7).

PORT ALLEGANY 52, AUSTIN 40

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Led by 13 points from Jarrod Funk, Port Allegany had 10 players score in double digits on its way to a 52-40 home NTL win over Austin.

Jacob Causer added 11 points for the Gators (6-5 overall, 6-2 NTL) with Henry Troupe scoring seven and Isac Amell six.

Brayden Stuckey paced Austin (1-11, 1-6) with 16 points with Dawson Hooftallen adding nine tallies.
