Franklin, North East, Mercyhurst Prep, Earn 2A Boys’ Soccer First Round Wins

ERIE, Pa. – Nate Pfennigwerth had two goals and two assists as No. 7 Franklin captured its first playoff win in program history with a 4-1 win over No. 10 Hickory.

Spencer Riley and Seldon Bean both had one goal each for Franklin.

Chippy Whitling and Ben Yard had one assist each for the Knights.

Jacob Harner scored for Hickory.

Franklin advances to play No. 2 General McLane in the quarterfinals.

            

NORTH EAST 1, WARREN 0

ERIE, Pa. – Tyson Bessetti scored the lone goal of the game in the first half as No. 8 North East knocked off No. 9 Warren in the Class 2A first round, 1-0.

Reese Kordes had the shutout in net.

Adon Maier made seven stops in net for Warren.

MERCYHURST PREP 3, GIRARD 1

                          

ERIE, Pa. – Alejandro Vazquez scored all three goals as No 6 Mercyhurst Prep knocked off No. 11 Girard in the Class 2A first round, 3-1.

HARBOR CREEK 4, SLIPPERY ROCK 2

ERIE, Pa. – No. 7 Harbor Creek scored a pair of goals one minute apart early in the second half en route to a 4-2 win over No. 10 Slippery Rock in the Class 2A first round.

Ava Reich and Brooke Arblaster scored for Slippery Rock

Harbor Creek moves on to play No. 2 Cathedral Prep in the quarterfinals.
