Frank Varischetti All-Star Football Game Awards 17 $1,000 Scholarships

   
   

BROCKWAY, Pa. – The Frank Varischetti All-Star Football Game awarded 17 $1,000 scholarships prior to the 2021 game Friday night at Varischetti Field in Brockway.

South Rallies in Second Half to Beat North 

The scholarships were awarded by each of the 17 games sponsors and went to players who are pursuing post-secondary education or technical training at an accredited school.

Players submitted academic information along with their extra-curricular activities at school and their community involvement while also writing an essay responding to the question “What role has football played in your life and how has it prepared you for the future?”

The entries were reviewed by a selection committee comprised of retired Brockway Area School Superintendent Stee Zarlinski, retired Brockway teacher and head football coach Ray Reckner, and PJ Piccirillo, writer and English and Humanities instructor at Butler County Community College at Brockway.

            

Scholarship recipients included:

Waste Management Scholarship: Reese Novosal of Kane – Attending Penn State University to study Engineering.

PNC Bank Scholarship: Taro Tanaka of Port Allegany – Attending Penn State University to study Bio-Behavioral Health

Rep. Mike Armanini Scholarship: Nick Crisp of Elk County Catholic – Attending Grove City College

Clyde, Ferraro & Co. Scholarship: Alex Bon of Ridgway – Attending Penn State University to study Bio-Mechanical Engineering

                          

Penn Highlands Healthcare Scholarship: Brandon Ishman of Punxsutawney – Attending St. Francis University to study Medicine

Varschetti Holdings Scholarship: Ben Glasl of Brockway – Attending the University of Pittsburgh to study Finance & Economics

S&T Bank Scholarship: Elliot Park of Brookville – Attending Penn State University to study Physical Education

First Commonwealth Bank Scholarship: Kobe Bonanno of Redbank Valley – Attending Grove City College to study Mechanical Engineering

CNB Bank Scholarship: Zaz Bell of Otto-Eldred – Attending Purdue University to study Aerospace Engineering

Burns White Attorneys at Law Scholarship: Zuke Smith of Kane – Attending Alfred University to study Mechanical Engineering

Butler County Community College Scholarship: Jacob Kline of St. Marys – Attending Clarion University to study nursing

Guardian Healthcare Scholarship: Braedon Johnson of Smethport – Attending West Virginia University to study Bio-Medical Engineering

Staley Capital Advisers Scholarship: Bobby Rumcik of Kane – Attending Penn State University to study Chemistry/Pre-Medicine

NexTier Bank Scholarship: Matt Griffiths of Karns City – Attending Penn State University to study Civil Engineering ‘
