Few Upsets as Most Top Seeds Advance to Semifinals on Day 1 of AA NW Regional Powered by Luton’s Plumbing, Heating, A/C

SHARON, Pa. – Most district champions held serve on Day 1 of the PIAA AA Northwest Regional Championships, though a couple of brackets saw some shakeups.

The top of the 145-pound bracket saw a number of upsets as District 9 champion Jaden Wehler and District 10 runner-up Tino Gentile were upset by Gunner Gage (10-6) and Nik Fegert (9-3), respectively, in the quarterfinals.

Both the D9 champion and runner-up, Aiden Zimmerman and Luke Ely were upset in the quarterfinals by Mason Savitz (10-4) and Chance Kimmy (10-3).

Clearfield is in the lead in the team race with 47.5 team points, followed by Fort LeBoeuf (40.5), General McLane (36), Reynolds (35), and Cranberry (32)

                              

Action gets underway on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the semifinals, followed by the third and fifth-place matches at 3 p.m. and the Parade of Champions and finals at 5 p.m.
