Two Area Wrestlers Get 100th Win
REDBANK VALLEY 36, INDIANA 33
NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Notching one more pin than visiting Indiana, Redbank Valley held on for a 36-33 win.
Both teams won five bouts with each team trading a forfeit. There was no match at 120 pounds, so it came down to the Bulldogs’ 5-4 edge in pins.
Hudson Martz, Aiden Gardner, Cole Bish, Ridge Cook and Dalton Bish notched pins for the Bulldogs for their lone wins on the mat.
Indiana had four pins, but their fifth win was a Tanner Smith 3-1 decision over Kobe Bonanno at heavyweight.
Bish’s pin at 138 put the Bulldogs up 36-9 with four bouts left to clinch the win. Wrestling Recaps
BROCKWAY 37, CLARION 18
CLARION, Pa. – Noah Bash of Brockway beat Clarion’s Cutter Boggess in Sudden Victory, 6-4, at 172 pounds as part of the Rovers’ 37-18 win over the Bobcats.
Also winning for Brockway were Dylan Bash (145, pin) and Jack Smith (160, 18-6 major decision), Seth Stewart (215, pin). The Rovers got the rest of their points via forfeits.
For Clarion, Peyton Means got a pin at 189 and the Bobcats got their other two wins by forfeit.
PUNXSUTAWNEY 36, HOLLDAYSBURG 21
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – Punxsutawney won four matches by fall en route to a 36-21 victory over Hollidaysburg.
Brice Rowan (138), Joshua Miller (189), Garrett Eddy (215) and Dysen Gould (106) all got pins for the Chucks, who got their other points via forfeits.
BROOKVILLE 59, DERRY AREA 11
BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Host Brookville won six matches by pin on its way to a 59-11 win over Derry Area.
Jared Popson (106 pounds), Owen Reinsel (120), Logan Oakes (126), Josh Popson (138), Bryce Rafferty (215) and Nathan Taylor (285) all got pins for the Raiders.
Also winning for Brookville were Brecken Cieleski (132, 6-2 decision), Wyatt Griffin (160, forfeit), Jackson Zimmerman (172, 16-0, 3:50 tech fall) and Hayden Kramer (189, 3-1 decision).
LAKEVIEW 33, FRANKLIN 30
STONEBORO, Pa. – Lakeview got three wins by pin and another by decision in a 33-30 win over Franklin.
Nate Martin (138), Danick Hinkson (152) and Trevn Schaffer (172) got pins for Lakeview, while Zach Pulliam earned an 8-1 decision at 189.
For Franklin, Kadin Karns (285, fall), and Jonah Heckathorne (160, fall) were both victorious.
All the other weight classes were forfeit wins or no matches.
ELLWOOD CITY 37, SLIPPERY ROCK 36
ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. – Slippery Rock got three wins by fall, but it was host Ellwood City that came away with a hard-fought 37-36 victory.
Winning by fall for the Rockets were Justin Pearce at 160 pounds, William Mokel at 172 and Tony Pilosi at 285.
UNION CITY 45, NORTH EAST 18
UNION CITY, Pa. – Union City won five matches by forfeit and two more by fall in a 45-18 win over North East.
Winning by fall for the Bears were Marcus Irwin (113 pounds) and Zack Beckwith (138) won by pin, while Kaden Tripp earned a 2-0 decision at 126.
For North East, Jesse Phelps (285, fall) and Brandon Lafferty (132, fall) were both victorious.
