
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Eight combined District 9 and District 10 football teams are in the Top 10 of their respective classifications in the PennLive Pennsylvania Preseason Top 10 Football Rankings.
Five District 10 teams and three District 9 teams crack the inaugural (and hopefully not final) rankings of the season.
The highest-ranked team is Wilmington, which is ranked second in Class 2A after going 12-1 in 2019 and advancing to the PIAA Semifinals.
The Greyhounds are joined by two other coverage-area teams in the Class 2A rankings.
Two-time defending Class 1A champion Farrell, which has moved up to Class 2A this season, is ranked sixth after goin 14-2 last season, while Clarion, the 2019 District 9 runner-up after going 10-2, is ranked 10th.
Three area teams are ranked in Class 3A with Clearfield, down from Class 4A, in at No. 4 after going 9-3 in 2019. Hickory, coming off a 7-4 mark in 2019, is No. 5, and St. Marys, which was 6-5 last season is No. 10.
Cathedral Prep, which went 11-3, is ranked fourth in Class 5A, while Maplewood, which was 10-1 and the District 10 runner-up to Farrell a year ago, is ranked 10th in Class 1A.
