ECC Girls Rally Past Punxsy to Stay Unbeaten; Austin Gets Huge Win over Port Allegany

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Down two going to the fourth quarter, unbeaten Elk County Catholic rallied to beat visiting Punxsutawney, 38-31, in D9 League action.

Sami Straub led the comeback effort for the Lady Crusaders (11-0 overall, 3-0 D9 League) hitting a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter while also going 3 of 4 from the free-throw line scoring six of her team-high 10 points in the quarter.

Lucy Klawuhn and Tori Newton each added seven points for ECC, which trailed 27-25 going to the fourth quarter before outscoring Punxsutawney (9-2, 2-1) 13-4 over the final eight minutes.

Sydney Alexander and Emily Mourer each chipped in six points in the victory.

Emily McMahon led Punxsutawney with 10 points, three rebounds, and two steals but was the only Lady Chuck to score more than four points.

                                      

Danielle Griebel did dish out six assists for Punxsutawney while grabbing four rebounds but only scored two points on 1 of 11 shooting.

AUSTIN 45, PORT ALLEGANY 31

AUSTIN, Pa. – Outscoring first-place Port Allegany 23-11 in the middle two quarters, Austin picked up its biggest win in several years with a 45-31 home win in NTL play.

Up 9-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Panthers (7-5 overall, 4-3 NTL) outscored Port Allegany (9-4, 8-1) 7-3 in the second quarter to take a 16-10 halftime lead.

Austin then turned to Kadence McKeiran in the third quarter to help expand the lead to double digits.

                          

McKeiran scored six of the Lady Panthers’ 16 points in the frame as the lead climbed to 32-18.

Savannah Horton also added four points in the third quarter for the Lady Panthers.

It was an overall balanced scoring effort that led to the win with Isabella Rees leading Austin with 12 points, McKeiran adding 11, Ella Brewer chipping in 10, and Horton and Lily Clinger each scoring six.

Brewer also dished out five assists, added four steals, and came away with five rebounds with Rees climbing the mountain for a game-high 14 rebounds to go with five steals and two assists. McKeirnan also had a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Ella Moses and Brynn Evens each had double-doubles for Port Allegany with Moses scoring a team-high 12 points to go with 10 rebounds and Evens adding 11 points and 10 boards.

CLEARFIELD 71, PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 42

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Visiting Clearfield got a game-high 23 points from Mia Helsel on its way to a 71-42 win over Philipsburg-Osceola in LHAC East action.

Helsel had quite the second quarter for the Lady Bison (6-4 overall, 4-3 LHAC East) scoring 16 points as Clearfield put up a 30-spot in the quarter to take a 49-19 halftime lead.

Sonny Diehl added 16 points in the victory with Hannah Glunt adding 13, Alayna Winters chipping in eight, and Cayleigh Walker contributing seven.

Khendyl Sharrey had 14 points for P-O (1-9, 0-6) with Maddy Maunicn adding 13.

                                   

OSWAYO VALLEY 35, CAMERON COUNTY 24

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Charlotte Austin-Keech hit a pair of second-quarter 3-pointers and scored seven of her game-high 11 points in the frame to lift Oswayo Valley to a 35-24 road NTL win over Cameron County.

The Green Wave (8-5 overall, 4-4 NTL) trailed 7-2 at the end of the first quarter but behind Austin-Keech went on a 15-2 second-quarter run to take an 18-8 halftime lead.

Makenna Manning and Layken Enty each added seven points in the victory.

Elsie Bresslin tied Austin-Keech for game-high honors with 11 points for Cameron County with Ava Hilfiger adding eight tallies. Trinity Earle grabbed a team-best nine rebounds for the Lady Raiders (2-8, 2-5).

COUDERSPORT 48, OTTO-ELDRED 43

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Sierra Myers netted eight of her game-high 15 points during a 14-8 third-quarter run that lifted Coudersport to a 48-43 NTL win over visiting Otto-Eldred.

Sierra Myers added seven rebounds and four steals.

Savannah Myers and Hallie Rigas each added 10 points for the Lady Falcons (6-3 overall, 6-1 NTL) with Savannah Myers chipping in seven rebounds and Rigas adding seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Ayla Van Scoter led Otto-Eldred (7-5, 5-3) with 13 points with Addie Bell adding 10 points, six rebounds, and five steals.

Kate Rhinehart also had nine points and eight rebounds for the Lady Terrors with Carrie Drummond chipping in seven points, five rebounds, and two steals.

RIDGWAY 56, SMETHPORT 27

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Jenna Kasmierski led a trio of Ridgway players in double digits with 19 points, as the Lady Elkers rolled past visiting Smethport, 56-27.

Kasmierski added eight rebounds.

Gabby Amacher added 12 points, six assists, six rebounds, and six steals for Ridgway (8-2) with Kristen Ellenberger chipping in 11 points and seven rebounds.

                                  

Emma Vargas contributed eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists in the win.

Elizabeth Hungiville had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Smethport (2-10). .

NORTHERN POTTER 43, GALETON 9

GALETON, Pa. – Haylee Chapman and Riley Knowles combined for 15 points to lead visiting Northern Potter to a 43-9 NTL win over Galeton.

Chapman had eight points and Knowles seven for the Lady Panthers (7-4 overall, 4-2 NTL), while Emma Haynes chipped in three points and 12 rebounds.

Addy Reigle led Galeton with six points.

KANE 75, YOUNGSVILLE 23

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – A career-high 29 points from Maya Smith led Kane to a 75-23 blowout road win over Youngsville.

Alexa Olmstead added 11 points for the Lady Wolves (6-5) with Leah Tigani chipping in 10 points and Kylie Iak contributing nine points.

Rylee Robinault scored eight points for Zaylee Cressly scoring seven points.
