District 10 Releases 2022 Basketball Playoff Brackets

SHARON, Pa. – District 10 released its 2022 basketball playoff brackets Sunday, Feb. 20.

Earning top seeds on the boys’ side were Farrell (1A), Kennedy Catholic (2A), Franklin (3A), Fairview (4A), Cathedral Prep (5A), and Erie (6A), while Kennedy Catholic (1A), West Middlesex (2A), Fairview (3A), Villa Maria (4A), Warren (5A) and McDowell (6A) are the top seeds on the girls’ side.

The championship games in boys Class 1A, 5A, and 6A, along with girls Class 1A, 4A, and 6A are set.

On the boys’ side, Farrell will play Jamestown for the 1A title on March 4 (time and location TBD), while the 5A and 6A titles will be determined in a doubleheader at Mercyhurst University on Thursday, Feb. 24. Erie and McDowell square off for the 6A championship at 6 p.m., with Cathedral Prep and General McLane meeting for the 5A title at 7:30 p.m.

Kennedy Catholic and Farrell will meet for the 1A girls’ title on Saturday, March 5 (time and location TBD). The 4A and 6A championships will be decided in a doubleheader at Mercyhurst Prep High School on Saturday, Feb. 26. McDowell and Erie clash for the 6A title at 3 p.m., while Villa and Fort LeBoeuf vie for the 4A crown at 4:30 p.m.

                                      

Classes 2, 3, and 4A on the boys’ side are eight-team tournaments, as are 2, 3, and 5A on the girls’ side.

Along with the championship doubleheader, the 4A boys’ tournament gets underway Thursday, Feb. 24, with No. 1 Fairview taking on No. 8 Corry (7:30 p.m.) and No. 3 Harbor Creek against No. 6 Oil City (6 p.m.) at the Hagerty Family Events Center and No. 2 Grove City against No. 7 Slippery Rock (7:30 p.m.) and No. 4 Hickory vs. No. 5 Warren (6 p.m.) at Sharon High School.

The 2A and 3A boys’ tournaments tip-off on Friday, Feb. 25, while the 2A, 3A and 5A girls’ tournaments get underway on Saturday, Feb. 26.

District 10 is guaranteed 11 PIAA playoff spots on the boys’ side (one in class 1A, four in Class 2A, and three each in classes 3 and 4A), as well as 11 on the girls’ side (two in 1A, and three each in 2A, 3A, and 5A).

Classes 5 (with districts 8 and 9) and 6A (with districts 6 and 8) for the boys and 4 (with districts 8 and 9) and 6A (with districts 6 and 8) for the girls will go into subregionals to clinch a PIAA playoff berth.
