Dec. 11 D10 Girls Basketball: Fairview Edges Harbor Creek, Greenville Tops Grove City

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Hope Garrity drained a program-record seven three-pointers, scoring 25 points in Fairview’s 40-38 win over Harbor Creek in the final of the Harbor Creek Tip-Off Tournament.

Garrity drained three of those shots from distance in the fourth quarter to help the Lady Tigers to the win. Sara Gennuso and Caz Zentis scored four points each in the win.

Brooke Przybylski scored 17 points for Harbor Creek (including 7-of-8 from the free-throw line), while Rylee Kapsar added 12.

WARREN 48, MAPLEWOOD 43

WARREN, Pa. – Riley Childress and Emma Ruhlman scored 13 points each as Warren beat Maplewood 48-43 in the final of the Warren Tip-Off Tournament.

                                      

Warren led by 16 early in the second half, but Maplewood rallied to as close as three in the fourth quarter, led by 22 points from Sadie Thomas.

Sammie Ruhlman had six points for the Lady Dragons and Alana Stuart five.

Bailey Varndell was also in double figures for Maplewood with 11 points.

Childress, Emma and Sammie Ruhlman, Thomas and Varndell were all on the all-tournament team.

GRENVILLE 43, GROVE CITY 32

                          

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Josie Lewis scored 13 points and Grace Cano 12 as Greenville beat Grove City 43-32 in the championship of the 50th Kiser Classic.

Greenville outscored Grove City 17-7 in the fourth quarter en route to the win.

Delaney Callahan scored 15 points to pace Grove City, while Piper Como added six.

FRANKLIN 50, VENANGO CATHOLIC 41, overtime

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Lauren Billingsley scored 15 points, including a late three-pointer to help send the game to overtime as Franklin outlasted Venango Catholic, 50-41.

Camdon Bashor had a double-double for Franklin with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Estella Adams added eight points.

Lily Homan poured in a game-high 23 points for Venango Catholic, including a 15-of-21 effort from the free throw line. Mariah Wessell chipped in with 10 points for the Lady Vikings. Wessell also had four rebounds and four steals, while Homan had seven steals and Sadie Kalajmaka five rebounds.

TITUSVILLE 40, CRANBERRY 38

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Lilly Tucker and Bri Wynn scored 10 points each as Titusville outlasted Cranberry 40-38 in the consolation game of the Roy Sanner Memorial Tournament.

Ava Matteson added eight points for Titusville, which outscored Cranberry 15-9 in the third quarter en route to the win.

                                   

Maddy Bunyak had 10 points (all in the first half) for Cranberry, while Allie Rembold added nine.

MERCYHURST PREP 64, SHARPSVILLE 25

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Olivia Kulyk and Anna Tranum scored 17 points each as Mercyhurst Prep powered past Sharpsville, 64-25.

The Lakers led 37-9 at halftime.

Mia Mangini chipped in with nine points and Shannon Stevenson eight for Mercyhurst Prep.

Chasie Fry had eight points for Sharpsville.

COCHRANTON 62, MERCER 57, overtime

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Carly Richter scored 22 points as Cochranton outlasted Mercer in overtime of the consolation game of the Kiser Classic.

Jaylin McGill added 19 points for the Lady Cardinals.

Julia Balaski poured in a game-high 25 points for Mercer.

VILLA MARIA 55, CARDINAL O’HARA 34 (N.Y.)

ERIE, Pa. – Carissa Dunham scored 19 points as Villa beat Cardinal O’Hara 55-34 in the Border Battled.

Daniela Shaugnessy scored 11 points for the Victors, while Jayden McBride added eight as Villa built a 16-point halftime advantage.

SENECA 67, COMMODORE PERRY 6

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Abby Wisnewski scored 14 points to lead four Mercer players in double figures in a 67-6 win over Commodore Perry.

                                  

Meghan Konkol tallied 11 points for Seneca while Julia Patterson and Lauren Konkol added 10 each.

KEYSTONE 25, JAMESTOWN 24

WARREN, Pa – Natalie Bowser scored nine points as Keystone outlasted Jamestown 25-24 in the consolation game of the Warren Tip-Off Tournament.

Sydney Bell added eight points for Keystone, which led by nine in the second half before holding off a late Jamestown rally.

Jillian McElhinney had 11 points to lead Jamestown. Bowser and McElhinney were both named to the all-tournament team.

NORTHWESTERN 33, CORRY 24

ALBION, Pa. – Chloe Yazembiak led a balanced attack with 10 points as Northwestern beat Corry, 33-24.

Taylor Stagl had nine points and Kayden Bird seven for the Wildcats.

Taylor Elchynski had eight points and Rachel Brady seven for Corry.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 50, WILMINGTON 29

KARNS CITY, Pa. – A huge second half helped DuBois Central Catholic cruise to a 50-29 win over Wilmington in the championship game of the Karns City Tip-off Tournament.

The Lady Cardinals trailed by a point, 18-17, at halftime before outscoring the Greyhounds 33-11 in the second halftime including 17-4 in the third quarter.

Kayley Riser was the driving force behind the big third-quarter push scoring eight of her game-high 18 points in the quarter while netting 12 second-half points. She finished a double-double with 11 rebounds.

Faith Jacob also had a double-double for DCC with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Lia Karup led Wilmington with eight points.

REDBANK VALLEY 67, IROQUOIS 8

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Routing Iroquois, 67-8, Redbank Valley finished off a 2-0 weekend at the Franklin Elks Tournament at Franklin High School.

The tournament was a “classic” setup with pre-scheduled rounds of play and no title.

The Lady Bulldogs led 42-4 at halftime.

Caylen Rearick and Madison Foringer each scored 16 points while Mylee Harmon and Clair Clouse scored 14 and 11 points respectively.

Iroquois Alena Krysioh scored three points.
