CLEARFIELD 74, CURWENSVILLE 47

HYDE, Pa. – Cole Miller scored 18 of his game-high 27 points in the second half to help Clearfield pull away from upset-minded Curwensville, 74-47.

The Bison led its neighboring rival by just three, 38-35, at halftime after Ty Terry exploded for 14 second-quarter points on his way to a team-high 26 – 23 before the break.

But Miller, who also handed out three assists, hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter to help Clearfield extend its lead to 59-40 going to the fourth quarter.

Ryan Gearhart added 17 points in the win for Clearfield with Luke Pallo scoring 11 points, grabbing five rebounds, and coming away with three steals.

Isakk Way also had five rebounds and three steals while adding six points in the win.

Parker Wood added eight points for Curwensville.

                          

REDBANK VALLEY 58, JAMESTOWN 44

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – One day after playing in the PIAA Class 1A Championship football game, Bryson Bain and Chris Marshall were on the basketball court turning in double-double performances in Redbank Valley’s 58-44 win over Jamestown in the first round of its own tip-off tournament.

Bain scored 19 points with 10 rebounds while Marshall finished with 13 points and grabbed 10 boards as the Bulldogs led 26-21 at halftime and outscored the Muskies 32-23 in the second half.

Cameron Keyser and Peyton McElhinny scored 17 and 16 points respectively for the Muskies.

KARNS CITY 64, PORTERSVILLE CHRISTIAN 30

FOXBURG, Pa. – Luke Cramer exploded for 24 points, including 19 in the first half, and added nine rebounds to lead Karns City to a 64-30 win over Portersville Christian in the Hoops for Heroes Kickoff at A-C Valley.

Micah Rupp added a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds while adding seven steals, Cole Sherwin chipped in 11 points. Taite Beighley added eight points, eight assists, and five steals

Tim Anning led Portersville Christian with nine points with Sam Hahn adding eight.

NORTH EAST 67, A-C VALLEY 52

FOXBURG, Pa – Ryan Mayes scored 22 points and Noah Crozier 20 as North East beat A-C Valley 67-52 in the Hoops for Heroes Kickoff at A-C Valley.

                                   

Mayes and Crozier knocked down four 3s each as North East built a 34-22 halftime lead.

Owen Kemp was also in double figures for North East with 13 points.

A-C Valley got a big game from Jay Clover, who scored 26 points in the loss. Alex Preston added eight points for the Falcons.

WARREN 67, BROCKWAY 21,

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Parks Ordiway scored a game-high 22 points to lead Warren to a 67-21 win over Brockway in the opening round of the Brookville Tip-Off Tournament.

Ordiway made five threes in the game, including three in the first quarter as the Dragons built a 44-16 halftime advantage.

Owen Becker scored 18 points for Warren, 16 of which came in the first half, while Brady Berdine chipped in with nine.

Alex Carlson and Aiden Grieneisen scored six points apiece for Brockway.

BROOKVILLE 54, UNION 36

BROOKVILLE, Pa. — Nine players found the scoring column and Danny Lauer led the way with 15 points as Brookville opened the season with a 54-36 win over Union in a Brookville Tip-off Tournament first-round matchup.

The Raiders led 30-12 at halftime and by as many as 22 points in the third quarter. Griffin Ruhlman finished with nine points and 12 rebounds while Clayton Cook had seven points and 13 rebounds. The Raiders outrebounded the Knights, 50-29.

                                  

Caden Rainey scored 16 points and Dawson Camper finished with 10 points and seven rebounds for the Knights.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 54, JOHNSONBURG 42

DUBOIS, Pa. – Donnie Neese scored 16 of his game-high 20 points after halftime to lead Punxsutawney to a 54-42 win over Johnsonburg on the opening day of the DuBois Central Catholic Tournament.

Gabe Kengersky added 12 points for the Chucks while going 10 of 12 from the free-throw line, and Ryan Heigley also had 12 points in the victory.

Jake Lobaugh hit five 3-pointers for 15 points to lead Johnsonburg, while Jefferson Freeburg added 14 points while hitting three 3-pointers.

DUBOIS 51, CLARION 36

KNOX, Pa. – Building a 35-17 halftime lead, DuBois cruised to a 51-36 win over Clarion on the opening night of the Keystone Tip-off Tournament.

Chooch Husted scored 15 points to lead the Beavers followed by Joey Foradora added 11.

Derek Smail led Clarion with eight points with his older brother Dawson Smail adding seven points and 11 rebounds. Devon Lauer chipped in four points and six assists.

KEYSTONE 54, COCHRANTON 39

KNOX, Pa. – Bret Wingard scored a game-high 24 points to lead Keystone to a 54-39 win over Cochranton in the opening round of the Keystone Tip-off Tournament.

Zander McHenry added 15 points for the Panthers.

Jaiben Walker led Cochranton with 12 points with Landon Homa added 11.

BRADFORD 49, EISENHOWER 27

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Cam Austin and Jake Franz combined for 34 points to lead Bradford to a 49-27 win over Eisenhower on the opening day of the Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament at Otto-Eldred.

Austin scored a game-high 20 points with Franz adding 14.

Wyatt Lookenhouse scored 13 points to lead Eisenhower.

OTTO-ELDRED 56, PORTVILLE CENTRAL (N.Y.) 46

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Gavin Jimerson scored 17 points to lead Otto-Eldred to a 56-46 win over Portville Central (N.Y.) in the opening round of the Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament at Otto-Eldred.

Landon Francis added 15 points for the Terrors with Austin Cousins added 14 points.

Francis hit a huge 3-pointer for Otto-Eldred with about two minutes left to give the Terrors a five-point lead and then went 6 of 6 from the line to ice the game.

Luke Petruzzi led Portville Central with 16 points, while Aiden DeFazio chipped 10 points.

SHEFFIELD 30, PORT ALLEGANY 29

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Drew Evens missed a pair of free throws with 1.2 seconds left, as Sheffield held on to beat Port Allegany, 30-29, in the opening round of the Sheffield Tip-off Tournament.

The Wolverines won despite not scoring the third quarter. They led 20-10 at halftime but found themselves tied at 20 going to the fourth quarter.

In the final frame, Lucas McNeal scored five of Sheffield’s 10 points to help lead it to victory. It was all of McNeal’s scoring on the night.

Tony Richards led the Wolverines with nine points, Caden Copley added seven, and Connor Finch six.

Noah Archer led Port Allegany with nine points, three steals, and two assists, Evens added six points, four steals, four rebounds, and two helpers and did hit a big 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to help keep the Gators in the game, and Blaine Moses had four points and eight rebounds.

SAEGERTOWN 52, NORTH CLARION 40

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Saegertown outscored North Clarion 27-10 in the second half to rally for a 52-40 victory in the opening round of the Sheffield Sports Booster Tip-Off Tournament.

Jaden Wilkins and Brady Greco combined to score 43 of the Panthers’ 52 points, with Wilkins tallying 22 and Greco 21.

Collin Schmader scored 15 points to lead North Clarion, while Aiden Hartle added nine and Josh Daum eight.

RIDGWAY 40, CAMERON COUNTY 25

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Jack Benninger and Domenic Allegretto combined for 25 points to help visiting Ridgway to a 40-25 win over Cameron County.

Benninger had 13 points to lead the Elkers with Allegretto adding 12.

Camdyn Allison had a game-high 15 points for Cameron County.

OSWAYO VALLEY 59, FOREST AREA 24

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – A trio of Oswayo Valley players scored in double digits to lead visiting Oswayo Valley to a 59-24 win over Forest Area at East Forest.

Cayden Black led the Green Wave with 17 points, Joe Mauer added 13 points, and Ian Bilski 12. Nik Bonney also chipped in nine in the victory.

Keyon Custer hit three 3-pointers for a team-best nine points for Forest Area.

CANTON 50, AUSTIN 14

GALETON, Pa. – Isaiah Niemczyk scored 13 points to help Canton to a 50-14 win over Austin in the opening round of the Galeton Tip-off Tournament.

Weston Bellow added seven points for the Warriors.

Cameron Rees and Adam Lucas led Austin with four points each.

COWANESQUE VALLEY 54, NORTHERN POTTER 17

WESTFIELD, Pa. – Painter McQuire exploded for a game-high 25 points to lead Cowanesque Valley to a 54-17 win over Northern Potter in the opening round of the Cowanesque Valley Tip-off Tournament.

Tanyon Brown scored seven points for Northern Potter with Gary Bliss adding five points.

ROCKY GROVE 69, CRANBERRY 29

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Isaac Clayton scored a game-high 25 points as Rocky Grove topped Cranberry, 69-29 in the open the opening round of the Roy Sanner Tip-Off Tournament at Rocky Grove.

The Orioles led by just three after the first quarter but outscored the Berries 37-11 in the second and third stanzas.

Alex Zinz scored 13 points for Rocky Grove, while Reece Henderson netted seven.

Preston Forrest scored seven points to lead Cranberry.
