Clearfield Girls, Port Allegany Boys Win Tournament Titles

INDIANA, Pa. – Clearfield scored three unanswered goals to beat Indiana in the Indiana Tournament title game on Saturday.

After an own goal gave Indiana an early 1-0 lead, Elle Smith scored off a feed from Megan Hamm to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second half, Riley Ryen scored what proved to be the game-winner on a feed from Smith at the 56:26 mark.

Smith scored on a penalty kick at the 71:35 to provide the Lady Bison with some insurance.

Cayleigh Walker had five stops in net for Clearfield.

            

Karns City fell to DuBois in overtime in the consolation game.

MERCER 4, GROVE CITY 3

MERCER, Pa. – Emma Cameron’s second goal of the second half with 34 seconds remaining sent Mercer to a 4-3 win over Grove City.

Cameron had given Mercer a 3-2 lead with 8:48 remaining on a penalty kick, but Grove City’s Ruby Mattson got the equalizer with just under two minutes remaining.

Victoria Badowski scored two goals for GC, while Ryan Dubiel had a goal for Mercer.

PORT ALLEGANY WINS GALETON TOURNAMENT

GALETON, Pa. – Austin Hamilton’s goal two minutes into overtime sent Port Allegany past Galeton in the championship game of the Galeton Tournament.

It was the second time in as many days the Gators won in OT to start the season.

Aidan Emerick scored off a Justin Dunn assist for Port in the first half.

Trailing 2-1 with 1:40 remaining in the second half, Port’s Jett Ruding scored the equalizer.

Aidan Clark had nine saves in net for Port and Ayden Whipple eight for Galeton.

Scoring for the Tigers were Braden Ward and Zach Pagano.

SLIPPERY ROCK 6, SERRA CATHOLIC 1

Nick Kingerski and Hunter Berry scored three goals each to lead Slippery Rock to a 6-1 win over Serra Catholic.
