Clarion Boys, McDowell Girls Advance to the PIAA Team Golf Championship; Warren Falls Shy in Tiebreaker

   

DUBOIS, Pa. – The Clarion boys and Erie McDowell girls are headed to the PIAA golf team championships after wins in the Western Team Regional at the Silver Course at Treasure Lake Golf Course Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Warren boys saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion losing a playoff to State College.

Clarion, led by a pair of 80s from Kameron Kerle and Devon Lauer, beat Central Martinsburg, 327-341 to advance to the championship in Class 2A, and McDowell got an 89 from Alexis Marsh and a pair of 91s from Genelia Kang and Analise Wolf to defeat State College (286) and Bradford (310) in Class 3A.

In Class 3A boys. Warren, behind a 73 from Braddock Damore, found itself tied with State College, who had a pair of 78s from Brady Wager and AJ Corson, at the end of 18 holes.

            

That necessitated a sudden-death playoff where eac team chose four golfers to compete. On the first hole, State College carded a combined 16 to Warren’s 18.

Clarion and McDowell now move on to the PIAA Team Championships in State College Oct. 18.

Played at the Penn State Golf Courses, the Class 2A championship will compete on the White Course and the Class 3A championship will compete on the Blue Course.
