ST. MARYS, Pa. – In a game that saw Cameron County’s Kalee Bresslin score her 1,000th career points, Elk County Catholic got 11 points apiece from Sydney Alexander and Lucy Klawhun to advance to the District 9 Class 1A semifinals with a 49-40 win.

Bresslin scored her 1,000 point on a 3-pointer with 4:50 to play in the third quarter. It was a four-point play, as she was fouled and also hit the free throw. She is just the fifth Lady Raider to score 1,000 points and the first since 2013 when Brooke Dunsmore accomplished the feat.

ECC, though, was too much for Cameron County.

The young Lady Crusaders took a 27-15 halftime lead thanks to seven first-quarter points from Brooke Bauer and a pair of first-half 3-pointers from Klawhun, just a freshman like Alexander.

Cameron County cut the lead to eight, 34-26, after three quarters thanks to the four points each from Bresslin and Hailey Hilfiger in the third quarter. The Lady Raiders then cut the deficit to five early in the fourth quarter but got no closer.
